...the local reporter will report as soon as she knows.

Figured a new thread would be OK. If no, mods feel free to merge.

I am not knowledgable about these things, but would the penalties/sentance be determined today or at some later date?

#Dennard is finally in the courtroom. Should be soon now.

Jury finds #Dennard guilty of assault on officer, resisting arrest, not guilty of assaulting Lincoln man. #Huskers

Ugh.

Guilty of assaulting officer, resisting arrest. Not guilty of assaulting student.

This could be ugly..

Interesting. Wonder what we can expect in terms of sentencing.

I'm the furthest thing from a lawyer, but this would indicate to me that his 2013 season is over. I cannot imagine he'd get no or a tiny amount of jail time for that.

So now Talib might be a FA and Dennard heads to prison (likely). Great news for our defensive backfield!

:bricks:

Seems like a really unfortunate outcome stemming from a stupid mistake.

I really feel for the guy.

No big deal if he has no prior record. Minimal if any jail time and a fine.

Hopefully we don't have to fill all three CB positions this offseason...

Sentencing hearing is April 11. Faces up to 6 years.

I agree with this, it sounds like the details will lead to a lighter sentence and much of it could be suspended. 30-60 days in jail with a big fine and probation.

Damn - anyone know if there's a set minimum sentence on a felony assault?

Hopefully the judge will go easy on him - if he's not stuck with a jail term mandate

April 11 will be the sentencing date for Dennard. Jail time is the worst-case scenario. A fine is best he can hope for. #PatriotsTalk

Unleash the scrubendary!

Well, this is why he ended up a seventh-round pick.

And at least the Patriots will know before the draft where things stand.

But nearly a month in to Free Agency. I wonder if BB will do with CB's this year what he did with WR's last year - sign lots of cheap veterans and see if any stick.

Or move DMc back to CB and go after Woodson or Reed for safety?

Yeah, but it's still better than trying to replace him in May or June (or September).
