I'm reading the article by John Clayton explaining every teams cap situation going into the offseason and he mentions some players that may get cut. These players include:

WR Brandon Llyod
WR David Patton
WR Justin McCareins
WR Joe Horn
CB Fred Smoot
WR Marty Booker
OG Damien Woody
CB Ken Lucas
ILB Ed Hartwell

Any one of these guys would be worth looking into? What do you guys think?

Dan Morgan MLB Panthers

I know we always have to wait and see the price tags these gentlemen come with... but wouldn't mind seeing a Joe Horn in town (with strict instructions to leave his cell phone in the locker room before games.) I have no clue whether the "recently supplanted" kind of talent like him can be bargain pickups, or whether he would be like "I'm Joe Horn, B****!"

Whoa whoa whoa whoa Ed Hartwell? Add him into my list of LBs from which to pick 2.

Okay, "Reload Euphoria" just hit me... I am minutes away from suggesting we spend 20M above the cap. Man... seven months...

you realize hes only played 13 games out of the last 32 possible?

he needs to get healthy for once..if he can i would take him but its a risk

same with Morgan..hes got concussion problems and other injuries each yr

Hartwell, Patten, Smoot.

Hartwell is a refugee from the Ravens 3-4, and is an ILB that we so desperately want/need.

Patten knows the offense, instant #3/4 WR plugin with Troy Brown.

Smoot has had trouble with the Vikings man-to-man defensive scheme, but did very well in Washington when he was provided with help. Worth a look, especially with the Samuel situation.

However, as this is John Clayton we are talking about, and as several as these players were on last year's certain cut list, I'd have to say this smells like bull****. I'd be surprised if he bats higher than .200 on these predictions.

I hope you didn't mean David Patten. There is no way he will make this team!

Ken Lucas is very good too. Alot of these guys have injury knocks (Morgan's career is probably over, he's had too many concussions). Booker played well in a #2/3 role with the Dolphins last year, too. Smoot's struggled, though he was a good #2 CB at one point.

I think Lucas will be too expensive, if he comes free at all. He's had some monster years down there in Carolina, very highly regarded. Smoot, not so much.

morgan might not even play in the nfl any more after suffering multiple concussions. he didnt play this year and may not be allowed to play for the rest of his career

WR David Givens.

Bet on it! ;)

what about Givens? you think he'll be cut?

Will the Titans think he is worth the money, especially when they have all those drafted WRs above him?

That's the question.

i would..they still expect a lot from him..they invested money. you dont back down because he has a knee injury..especially when Bennett probably wont be back and Wade is an FA

I like Lucas.

Year Team G Total Tkl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def
2001 Seattle Seahawks 16 48 44.0 4 0 1 0 0.0 0 0 14
2002 Seattle Seahawks 16 81 70.0 11 0 3 67 22.3 40 0 9
2003 Seattle Seahawks 14 61 51.0 10 0 1 27 27.0 27 0 11
2004 Seattle Seahawks 16 70 62.0 8 0 6 46 7.7 25 1 15
2005 Carolina Panthers 15 69 62.0 7 0 6 70 11.7 32 0 7
2006 Carolina Panthers 13 45 31.0 14 0 3 13 4.3 13 0 6

this year he was hampered by injuries..Marshall played pretty well for rookie and Lucas might get cut because he has the highest cap of the DBs and they are considering anyone go really besides Peppers/Smith/Williams right now.

id take a shot on hartwell
and def joe horn

as for the question of givens being cut
i dont see it
not after only signing one yr ago, think of the cap implications

you guys realize horn is 34 years old? 2 seasons of injuries(didnt miss huge amount of games but couldnt play at high level
