Do you pull the trigger? He's been out of the NFL for a season and isn't exactly a young kid anymore. But on the other hand his last season was a dominant elite calibre season. On top of that, it could be a mild sign to future players you could hold out (even respectfully) and eventually get your way. Though I don't know if anyone wants to lose a full years check.

Texans are obviously an AFC competitor and Waters could add to an already talented offensive line. Patriots are in need of middle round/late picks pretty badly and "losing" Waters doesn't do anything since he wouldn't play for us anyway.

Do you do it?

Would I steal candy from a baby?

Yes.

Yes.

Waters is so far off the radar it would be like getting something for nothing. I am not worried about the possible upgrading of a rival. If anything, it might backfire on Houston.

why would houston ever do it?

Hypothetical: If the Texans management were lobotomized, would you say yes to a 5th and a 6th?

id say its more likely to be one or the other but i would definitely take that in a hart beat and give me Chris Harper and Nick Kasa out of those picks and id be very happy

I'd jump at a 7th. Brain was great for us when he played here, but lets face it, he is not coming back. If we can get ANYTHING for him it would be dumb not to do so.

I'd offer to drive him to the airport, but he's already in Texas.

Hypothetical: And he looked up and there was not only God but Aliens as well!

i would take a 13th round pick for the guy...just dead weight

Sure. Least a 6th for him. He might still be a good player if he gets in shape.

Brian Waters is 36 years old, hasn't played since Feb 2012, and more than likely is topping 350 lbs.

Stick a fork in him.

Shouldn't there be a prohibition against starting idiotic threads until you've lurked for a full season?

Ok they were talking about Jack Edwards on the radio today, I had no clue it was that out of control. Wow just a little over the top!

would you take a first for him?

I just skimmed the last 20 of your posts.

What I read was:
-Nothing of value
-You suggesting we ask for a 6th round pick for Waters.

Sorry, but if you're going to call someone out for what you believe is a dumb idea, you better make sure it wasn't an idea you've already backed yourself.

We have no idea what his condition is right now. It was under the presumption he didn't eat twenty pounds of mcdonalds every day. The Patriots seemed awfully intent on signing him the entire seasons- months after he had played a down, so I'm going by that he was in relatively decent shape up until at least 3 months ago. He has about 6 months to get back into game shape. That's plenty of time.

Also keep in mind he really wanted to play for the Texans last season and was likely working out in hopes the Patriots would let him go to sign with them.

It would be like finding a 20 dollar bill in a coat pocket.

Somethin' for nothin'

I'd settle for a conditional 7th in 2014, to be honest

I'd change my underwear, then I'd say yes.

The premise itself is beyond ridiculous. This is Houston, not Oakland, Jacksonville, or Cleveland.
