I've been saying this for years, the Super Bowl should be on a Saturday night. It's the biggest sports event of the year and after partying we need to be able to sleep in and recover.
Plus, when the Pats win next year, I got a feeling we will all party hard and won't be functional the next day.

Saturday night really hurts the businesses in the SB city. I don't think they will move the game unless the forecast calls for warm rains on Sunday.

Saturday makes a lot of sense for the fans...a day to recover before the work week...but this is not the issue here....if you read what the NFL has formulated, it centers all around a "what if" scenario that you just don't have to plan for if the game is held in a warm climate or dome site...people pay up front for hotels and other ancillaries and risk the possibility that tbhe game could be moved forward or back in time, possibly DAYS backward?

It's a nutbag idea coming from a nitwit NFL executive office. 18 game schedules...games in South Africa and Malaysia and Sarajevo , Super Bowls in Minnesota and Detroit again, hour long halftime shows devoting a half hour to an NFL Dancing With The Stars segment followed by voiced over electronica from the latest American Idol winner....WTF...where does the madness end with this weirdo commissioner?

Cities bidding on the SB see the open Saturday as a massive revenue opportunity. A Saturday SB clears out the city's guests a day early.... Lost hotel, restaurant, etc, revenues. Not going to happen

that's a pretty ignorant statement considering I'm sitting here , 180 miles away from the Meadowlands in a near barren moonscape buried under two feet of snow 10 days AFTER the last Super Bowl.

I've tempered my enthusiasm for the next SB because it's been pre-ordained to be the Manning Bowl in NYC. The All NY Bowl plan fell through despite years of behind the scenes efforts by the commissioner due to the gobsmackingly incompetent ineptitude by the Jets org utterly destroying the team's competitive capabilities. No finite amount of faux "pass interference" and "offensive holding" penalties combined with inadvertent quick whistles can vault those Jets bozos thru the AFCCG.

Pats winning the SB in NYC would be epic. Could care less what day it is. Let it be Saturday, that will give the New Yorkers a day to deal with their hangovers after watching Belichick raise the Lombardi on their turf.

There is always a chance but this would need to be another storm threatening 30 inches give or take for them to actually make a move. I know its northeast in Febuary but these type of storms dont happen every year. This would be worst case scenario.

Worst case scenario B would be your more regualr Northeast storms where they wouldn't be forced to move the game but people still have to deal with it. But then think about how cool this would be if it Were Tom Brady playing in the snow .

Most likely scenario is probably cold with little or no percipatation.

Best case IMO would either be a perfect wether day or a game with a snow wether legend like Tom with some snow for effect but not enough to really effect anything.

I agree with those who say that the host city will not give up the weekend revenues, even though it would be better for the fans if the game was moved to Saturday. If they are going to make the move, they will have to do it before the next SB is awarded, so the potential host cities know what they are bidding on. For those that have already been awarded, you've got to think the host cities counted on having the entire Superbowl weekend fill their coffers and will threaten to sue the NFL if the game is moved post-scheduling.

It's dumb to think there can be any sort of contingency plan for a game of this magnitude. This is some dummy making noise, or the NFL wants to be able to say "we tried but NY wouldn't let us!" if disaster befalls them. I predict that the game will go off as scheduled no matter what the weather, and they will just be praying that a Nemo-type storm doesn't hit that day (or the night before). Then they will either say, "well, we'll never do that again!" or they will be lulled into thinking that all will be fine if they start awarding these games everywhere, because look how well it went!

What they should do is announce that after 2016 (or whenever the next not-yet-awarded SB is), the game will be on Saturday night. I'll believe it when I see it.

It COULD clear out the city's guests a day early. But would it really? I think that PLENTY of people would stay the extra day and travel Monday morning just so they have the day to recuperate instead of trying to fly with a hangover.

Also, the extra day would allow people to actually see sights instead of going to all the different parties that are going on prior to the SB. So there is revenue that would be made up there.

Football was meant to be played outdoors and in the elements. I love the decision and I hope going forward that they give us more outdoor, cold weather venues.

I'm also enjoying the whining of the people who don't like the idea.

The NFL's contingency plans here aren't in case of a little light snow or a drizzle. They are making contingencies in case we see another one of these record-breaking storms which seem to come around once every 5 years or so.

The odds of it happening again on that particular day are about 500-to-1 against. Oh don't get me wrong... it may very well be windy and the corporate billionaires may have to stay inside their luxury boxes but I, for one, am hoping for blustery conditions.

I say that 90+% of people who go to the SB stay overnight until the next morning already. Most check-out times are 11am or 12 noon. So, the cities are getting a breakfast and probably a lunch from people who attended the SB. And you'll still have a large number of people staying over until Monday anyways so they can get that Monday morning cheap flight back to wherever they live.

The SB cities don't get just a weekend of revenue from the SB. They get a whole week already. Leading up to the SB, there are 3-5 major parties a night held by a variety of sponsors and non-sponsors alike. You have numerous different events with hundreds of celebrities from all walks there.
