3 players stand out to me as guys who were with the team last year but played little to none in 2012 due to injury or depth....these guys are Jeff Demps,Jake Ballard and Jake Bequette

Which one is most intriguing to you in regards to his talent at his position?

I chose Bequette as I see him helping our an anemic pass rush,I don't know if Demps or Ballard will even make the team.

Demps, really want to see his speed. Hoping he has good vision as a kick returner. McCourty really doesn't have the explosiveness to do a whole lot. Plus, don't really want him to get hurt returning kicks. He's too valuable.

My vote is all 3 if we have another tight end who can be a serious threat in the pass game and compliment Gronk allowing us to be more creative with Hernandez snaps thats a huge asset.
If Demps can be a electric returner a threat to go cj spiller like everytime he touched the ball.
If he can turn a 1 yd pass to 15 that be huge.

If Bequette plays with the motor and intensity he did in college yet hones his skills with his leverage and pass rush forte at worst we have someone who can push Ninko for snaps at best we have a poor man's Jared Allen.
All possible huge assets in my opinion.

i think all 3 are equally important ballard could be huge for us this season if one of our TE's goes down with an injury and Demps has that explosiveness that we need whether its on kickoffs or turning screen passes into touchdowns plus bequette can help our defense and could add a great presence on the edge i think every other team should be scared we have three contributors that didnt even play this past season

demps

ballard is already known as a solid all around TE
bequette has tons of competition

demps could be a hester in the return game, and a real threat to beat anyone outside

Ballard,Demps,.......and Francis....Get Francis some seasoning at times he looked like a man among boys

I can't imagine a healthy Ballard not making the team. He averaged almost 16 YPC in 2011—tops among TEs with 10+ receptions.

Demps. That said it'll all be for nothing if the blocking scheme doesn't help utilize his speed.

Demps....

Neither of the other options is worth much.

I hope Demps, because Ballard doing too much would probably be an indicator that the health of the TEs was a little too similar to this past season.

Demps, but he's facing a tough crowd in front of him in Vereen and Woodhead.

I don't recall seeing Bequette on the field at all this past season. Unless he was hurt, that's not a good sign. What was the story with this guy?

I see what you did there.

In my mind, I don't see any reason why Demps can't be Tavon Austin. All we have to do is put 20 pounds on him and he'll be good to go.

We make fun of the draftniks often, and I really don't care for PFW in particular, but based on the snaps he got in preseason and vs. Buffalo, we've got to give credit where credit's due.

PFW said:
Positives:
Gets off the ball quickly and can turn the corner if he gets a step. Good closing burst. Keeps working to the quarterback. Moves well in a straight line and showed surprisingly well in agility drills at the Combine, clocking times of 4.07 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle and 6.90 seconds in the 3-cone drill. Can drop into short zone. Confident, intense and competitive. Very intelligent.

Negatives:
Has short arms and does not play with pop or power in his hands — noticeably gets velcroed to blocks. Very average functional anchor strength. Does not show enough pushback against the run — gets sealed on the edge and waylaid by double-teams. Pops up off the snap and has a short second step. Ordinary suddenness and flexibility.

Turned out to be an extremely good prognosis. They go on to suggest that he can be effective - that is, if he gets stronger in order overcome his limited handwork. Since they got the first half right, I'll take their word for it. I'm much more interested in Justin "Jarvis Green 2.0" Francis anyway.

We have no reason to believe Demps is worth anything either.

Demps showed explosion as a return man. Ballard's going to be a backup TE coming off a potentially career ending microfracture surgery as well as ACL surgery. Bequette showed he can sit on a bench.
