Shouldn't this be a fine at least?

The officials answer to no one. They have carte blanche to either call or not call penalties that actually happen or invent ones that don't without fear of reprimand and are not required to assume responsibility for their actions. If they screw up they will given a downgrade for each action. The Super Bowl official Boger received 8 downgrades last season. The league reversed each one all at once so he could work the Super Bowl. :suspicious:
Report: NFL officials question Jerome Boger’s selection as Super Bowl*referee | SI Tracking Blog
This downgrade system is a useless smoke screen.

The officials can never be questioned, doubted or called out. Should a player or coach do so, he will be immediately fined. (kind of like questioning governments in socialist countries) Even the media or ex-players rarely point out suspicious officiating. It's simply allowed to exist and has become an accepted part of the game.

Sock puppets like Mike Pereira are allowed to exist to placate the public. What they say has no influence whatsoever.

Sometimes I feel like a lemming being lead to the end of the season. After SB XL, Seahawks/Steelers, I felt that things would change because officiating that poor cannot be allowed to exist. I was wrong. Sorry if this sounds like a sour grapes conspiracy theory. Eventually someone will say take off the foil hat and just enjoy the games. Everything is fine. Of course this is exactly what the NFL wants me to hear and do. So far, that's what I've done.

Hey Ian...where's the lemming emoticon?

I've been laughing at the conspiracy theories for a long time, but this season sure lends some credibility to to their case. I'm really starting to wonder.

I was actually going to make a thread on this but didn't have enough posts.

Cary Williams later prevented a TD with a pass deflection. He always went on to say "it was in the heat of the moment, he got between me and a player I was going after and I accidently hit him".

No Cary, you got up, saw the ref and went after him before going a complete 90 degrees to your right and hitting another player. It was obvious he was not impeding anything and even if he was YOU STILL SHOULD HAVE BEEN EJECTED.

This is the same scumbag who swung multiple punches at Edelmans face right in front of a ref without any sort of repercussions. "Letting them play" does not mean "let them swing punches". It was clear as day at the time the refs were not prepared for a big game like that and the Ravens ended up winning because of it.

the last game of the year??

THE game?

the refs "weren't ready"????

if so then this fall squarely on the lap of ROGER GOODELL.

There were so many egregious non-calls that all I remember are these incidents...NOT the scoring plays .Worst Super Bowl I've watched in years.

When you have a documented slug official, wipe his slate clean, then award HIM the Super Bowl job, YOU are either a gd'ed idiot or have a hidden agenda...either way, this is Goodell's baby...let him face the withering fire of the media when next season rolls around.

That non-call was pretty much the cherry on top with regards to the Ravens season for calls going for and against them.

Well honestly I was referring to week 2, but the refs were also not prepared for the SB. I'm not sure why Hochuli wasn't reffing. It wasn't nearly as bad as the replacement officials, but it was still pretty poorly reffed SB.

I'll tell you what this reminds me of...the end of the LA Showtime/Bird era...remember those two years between that and the Jordan ascension?

Same exact thing.......well sure those are fouls but the refs can't call five guys for fouls on every play...so of course Laimbeer can slam players in the head and punch them in the face while Isaiah Thomas hacks so bad the claw marks are visible on TV camera...did you SEE that jumper Dumars made???...nothing to see here ...move along

Well, Baltimore does ***** more than anyone about the refs. I guess what we've learned from the Ratbirds and PolianColts are that if you ***** enough, you'll get your way with the zebras...

Whatever...

Welker wearing an unauthorized promotional hat during an interview: Fine

Uniform code violations (most recently Gore's socks): Fine

Belichick grabs refs arm, post-game: Fine

Lloyd throws ball to official who wasn't ready: Penalty, but no Fine

Brady's awkward slide/kick: No penalty, but Fine

Shove an official during the Super Bowl: No fine, ejection or penalty

The league is nothing if not consistent.

well I think brady should annouce his retirement mid season, Apparently that's the easiest way to get a title. the league needs its "good stories"

Worst calls in the game...
1. No penalty for shoving the ref
It's #1 because it's indisputable and the ref can't claim "I didn't see it" :)
2. Helmet to helmet hit on SF WR on 3rd down of the potentially game ending RZ series
Supposedly a player safety issue; happened in the open with the ball right there
3. Reed offsides on same series
Linesman asleep at the switch; he lined up offsides
4. No holding call on 4th down
If the argument is that both players were complicit, call offsetting penalties & repeat the down

(I did not see the ref shove live as I only saw the end of the game)

Sadly, only a blind man wouldn't be able to connect the dots between Goodell, Ray Anderson,
Jerome Bogar, and the Rayvens.
