This the year we go double WR?

With Welkers contract looming ahead and only Lloyd on the roster as a viable wideout, is this the year we go double WR like we went double TE and then double RB? With or without Wes, we've desperately needed to add youth at the position for years now.

The two I have my eye on are Tavon Austin and Quinton Patton. Both could be had at good value spots and look to fit the mold of what we want in a receiver. Both also have good but not great upside. Austin plays like a less explosive Percy Harvin and Patton is a slower version of Reggie Wayne.

I sincerely hope so although I'm not sure we'd go back to back in the first two rounds as you are suggesting. I have Markus Wheaton (2nd round) and Ace Sanders or Marquise Goodwin on day 3.

Any two out of the following would suit me fine:

Tavon Austin
DeAndre Hopkins
Markus Wheaton
Quinton Patton
Terrance Williams
Robert Woods
Stedman Bailey
Marquise Goodwin
Ace Sanders
Chris Harper

I hope so. Right now I'm thinking Robert Woods and then Chris Harper.

With only 4 picks right now, I think the chances of going 2 WRs is less than 1%. Not when the Pats have issues on the D-line, O-Line, and in the Secondary.

And before you say they don't have issues on the D-line and O-line, let's remember this:

1) They don't truly have an effective back-up for Wilfork.
2) Deaderick had moved past Love by the end of the year.
3) Pryor's status is still unknown, but he's yet to stay healthy
4) They don't have an effective back-up behind Ninkovich or Jones.
5) Donald Thomas is a UFA. As is Vollmer.
6) The Pats don't know what they have in Zusevics. Can he be a swing tackle for this O-line.
7) Connolly is better at Center than at Guard.
8) McDonald didn't progress (to my eyes anyways) and really is a man without a position as he's not as good as Wendell or Connolly at center or at Guard and he should only be at Tackle if everyone else is hurt.
9) Dowling hasn't been able to stay healthy.
10) Talib is a UFA and the leak that the Pats don't want to offer him a multi-year deal and question his work ethic is huge.
11) Arrington is a UFA at the "STAR" or Slot CB position.
12) Maquice Cole is a UFA.

Now, many of these will be answered prior to the draft, via free agency. Until then, I'd have to say no. They'll add one via the draft, one via free agency and probably bring in a few via UDFAs and Street Free Agents to see what shakes out.

Terrence Williams in the 1st. Quitton Patton in the 2nd.

Would not mind this at all. Though we have other needs.

I sincerely hope so although I'm not sure we'd go back to back in the first two rounds as you are suggesting.

What?

I haven't really done much looking around at mocks online since I did mine, but Patton was a 3rd/4th round pick when I did it and Austin was a middle second round guy.

I sincerely hope neither has hoped up that much since then.

DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Goodwin

quinton patton in the 2nd and trade back from our third round pick get a 4th and a 5th and get chris harper or connor vernon

If cordarelle patterson drops to us at 29 i think BB has to seriously consider him. If not i would like to see us take a look at Terrance Williams, Justin Hunter, Tavon Austin, and Da'rick rodgers in the second round.

The combine says a lot tho.... a receiver can boost his stock so much based on a good showing (Like Stephen Hill) so it's possible that Hunter, Williams, and Austin could go in the first round.

Guys I'd like to see on the radar screen...

- Stedman Bailey (West Virginia) Round 3 or Round 4. Not as explosive as Austin but doesn't lack much for talent himself. Biggest issue is his focus (prone to drops).
- Tavarres King (Georgia) Round 4 or Round 5. Looks bigger than listed and runs fast vertically. Also comes from the SEC and is used to playing against tougher defenses.
- Denard Robinson (Michigan) Round 4 - Round 6. Intriguing option in that he's very raw in regards to everything but displays obvious athleticism. Could end up being a Julian Edelman type.
- Ryan Spadola (Lehigh) Round 7 - UDFA. Won't be a burner but plays a savvy, smart football game. Solid route runner who can make plays but won't run a 4.35 40 anytime soon.
