I know the compensatory picks are awarded based on the disparity of those FAs lost versus those signed as calculated by contracts, playing time and apost-season honors but based on the contracts given Willie, Adam, Givens, Ashworth versus those players signed, I expect (wishful thinking) the Pats to be awarded the maximum of 4 picks maybe a 3rd,4th,6th and 7th........(hopefully)

I don't believe McGinest counts as he was cut and was not a free agent.

Looking at this list, I'd expect to get 3 picks, one of which should be at least a 4th rounder.

Add to that the pick we got for Gorin, and we have plenty of room to move (or stock up for 2008).

Cant trade comp picks. just an FYI.

mea culpa. That explains why he was not on some of the lists I saw. Still, whatever comp picks the Pats get (that can't be traded), it gives more flexibility to the other 8 picks, if you include the one for Gorin,Branch and deduct Gabriel.
Hypothetically, if they get 3 or 4, do they keep all 11 or 12 or do they bundle and trade to either move up or stockpile for future years? Nobody knows what is going on in BB/Pioli/FO's mind but I'll trust their judgment to have more hits than misses......
I should probably wait for JTAdam13's predictions. He seems to have a handle on the formula as well as if not better than anybody......

There is very little chance that BB/Pioli DON'T trade some picks - bundle to move up, and maybe our 4th for a 3rd next year, a 3rd for a 2nd next year or whatever. Great draft management, EVERY YEAR.

This has been discussed several times from the start of the season.

Unless the compensation formula changed drastically, the Pats should get a 4th, 2-6ths and a 7th.

The picks would be for Givens (4th), Vinatieri (6th), Ashworth (6th), Davis (7th).

Caldwell off-sets the Dwight loss. Mitchell off-sets the Fauria loss.
McGinest does not count because he was CUT. Gaffney does not count because he was cut. Players who were cut do not count in the compensation formula either for or against a team.
