I can't speak for anyone here, but I would be giddy with excitement. Do you think he could get like a 1 year deal? or finish his career here? Would you want him? Is he asking for too much?

I'd say pretty good chance. Anyone heard anything from Reed since the super bowl? Hope he isn't retiring. Dude's almost always in the right place at the right time.

There was a report today that Harbaugh asked him to come back on the ride back to the team hotel last night. I doubt he leaves. With Ray Lewis gone, they need his leadership and someone to help get em lined up right. Way too valuable to let go. He's not the cherry on a sundae for us. We have a few other holes to fix before we can consider throwing a lot of money his way.

I'm not seeing it. His strengths are too much like McCourty's and his weaknesses are too much like Gregory's. You don't gain anything other than flexibility by having two safeties that can play single-high, and you don't solve the tackling issues at safety by adding Reed either. I'd rather get a guy who isn't as good in deep coverage but can still hold his own in underneath zone or man against TEs, and who can actually tackle.

While he's still under contract right now, Charles Woodson is the guy I want, assuming he'll be released rather than taking a pay cut to stay with the Packers.

If they had lost the Super Bowl, I'd say high probability. But now that they've won, I can see him finishing his career in Baltimore.

Can they afford him tho? Baltimore won't be as good next year baring some great Gming.

I think he'll wind up with the Colts, following Pagano and addressing a dire need there (safety, veteran presence).

I'd much prefer Kenny Phillips.

Watching Belichick and Brady discussing Reed, it wasn't what he does physically that they admired, it was his ability to read the QB and his football intelligence. Throw in his leadership qualities, those are the type of intangibles BB loves. I don't know if they can afford him, but if they can, I think BB would relish the opportunity to get him, particularly if it helps Tavon Wilson in the long-term.

He's on 7 mil now, I'd imagine he'd want the same to sign with us. Don't know if that will be possible.

We do not need 2 FS. then you are asking mccourty to play in the box safety role. i do not think he is big enough to last a season in that role. We have spend this year developing him as our center fielder. He seem to be decent .

Also when we go an extra CB, our team is so bare. right now we have dennard , cole as our leading CB. We need at the bare minium 3 guys.
right now we have
devin , wilson , gregory as our top 3 safety with ebelner[?] or some guy we drafted late last year.

save his money, sign kyle arrington to play inside , then sign another outside guy or i will even propose sign and draft a high pick.

also ,make sure he is not a Injured Value player a.k.a dowling, wheatley , chung.

this guy Jairus Byrd will make my day

I think it is fairly high. I think Belichick loves the guy and Reed has a mutual respect. I think the Ravens will be forced to let him leave with their cap situation.

I don't know if I want him though. He wasn't all that great yesterday. He did have some great moments and other moments he looked like he would fit in well with the Pats' secondary and not in a good way.

I definitely wouldn't. I think he's pretty average, and the Giants backups made him forgettable this year.

Ed Reed would be a great addition to our secondary:

1. Playing Ed Reed and McCourty would give us a real security blanket against the deep ball. Play both as high safeties mitigates against Reed's more limited range now he's older but still allows him to do what he does best which is read the QB and make plays on the ball.

2. With McCourty and Reed both playing as deeper safeties lessens the pressure on the CB's. Dennard is a perfect cover-2 CB and there would be less need to sign Talib as cover-2 CB's don't carry the value that more conventional man CB's do.

3. Our big LB's lessen the need for an in the box safety.

4. The range that McCourty and Reed would provide and their coverage abilities would likely cause some QB's at least to be a little more hesitant in pulling the trigger which gives our somewhat limited pass rush more time to get to the QB.

As a short-term win now proposition, I'd love an Ed Reed signing.

Apparently none of you read reed's comments a week ago when he said it was unlikely he'll play for NE.

When did he say that? I haven't read that article, did he specify a reason?

I don't think there's a good chance now. I think he'll be back in BAL and finish his career there, akin to how Lewis just did (hopefully without another SB victory).

Reed is nothing like McCourty and thats why the Pats need him.

How many times have you see Reed get fined for over aggressive play? He got fined $55,000 for cracking Victor Cruz this season. What does a 55k fine tell you? That the 10k and 20k fines didnt even phase Reed for his style of play.

Thats the kind of toughness you need to beat teams like the Giants. Not puxxies like Devin "The Matador" McCourty. Please dont insult Ed Reed comparing him to "The Matador"
