Asking for your support

Was it the offense or defense that cost this franchise two championships?

The Patriots had a lead late in both Super Bowl losses but couldn't make a defensive stand.
Ravens prove once again defense wins championships.

By allowing 31 points?

Agreed. If your WR screws up your defense better get ready to back it up.

It's hard to forget about that drop. It was truly the play that changed momentum. He gets that and we get at least 3 or 7 points. Instead, we punt the ball and never led again.

He makes the catch, the game is over. period.

As for the 2007 SB, there were some things that happened on that last drive that go against the laws of physics.

defense wins championships? im sure they do, if they can get away with what the ravens DB's got away with in that game

ie. not what is allowed by the NFL handbook

Yeah, because no team has ever scored multiple touchdowns in the span of a single minute. . . .

Offense. Pats should have been able to score more than 17 and 21.

It wasn't just the drops. The offense as a whole didn't execute. 13 points. 1 TD in 4 Red Zone trips. 6 out of 7 times past the 40 and only 13 points.

The offense's output in both SBs was unacceptable.

The D has issues but if you have to choose, the offense has been the culprit in season ending losses each time.

For the thousandth time, it was NOT a "drop." Slightly off-target ball by Brady to a wide open receiver, with no pressure on him to speak of. A ball an NFL receiver should make a play on more often than not.

No that you're edified, have a nice day and maybe go learn a thing or two about how football is played.

I swear the Welker hate/ignorance around is contagious.

I love Welker but what are you smoking? That third down pass was right to Welker and he didn't catch it. Whether you call it a drop or a non-catch or a hand grenade is irrelevant.

He should have had it.

Hit him in the hands, that's a drop. Hit him right in the hands, put a bigger dude there and it's on target.

I love welker but it was partly him that time, just a mistake and unfortunately a big one. But who cares, its the past.

Its a total team failure, offense sucks and sputters a lot and the defense never backs it up. But I voted offense due to expectations, I expect the defense to do very little and don't expect the offense to suck.

The Defense cost us in 06' against the colts, that one hurt just as much as any SB loss.

But in the 2 SB's it was the offense without a doubt.

Ray Rice fumbled the ball & practically gave the game to the 49ers. The Ravens went 3 & out, then shanked a punt, gift wrapping another 49ers TD.

In the NFL, it's about the next play, not the last play.

Pointless thread.

A defense cannot win without an offense.
An offense cannot win without a defense.

Doesn't matter whether either unit is simply putting up points, running the clock, or managing the game.

Units that compliment each other and make up for each others mistakes win championships.

Our offense couldn't stay on the field, our defense couldn't get off the field. Both units failed, we lost.

Sorry, hard to win SBs in the modern era scoring less than 21.
