The Pats will have a very thin draft, just in terms of sheer numbers, unless they find ways to get more picks. I was wondering what avenues other posters thought might be out there for the Pats to get more.
My first thought was trading the rights to Brian Waters. He hasn't retired, right? And since he didn't report, his second contract year is still on the books. Not that I love the idea of trading him to Houston, but if that's what he wants, we could probably get something for him -- I would think at least a 6. Is that a possibility?
Beyond that, tagging and trading Welker seems like a possibility. Not that I want him to leave, but this is a move the Patriots have done twice before (with Cassel and Tebucky Jones) and it seems possible this year.
I know others have talked about trading Ryan Mallett, but I'm sort of hoping we don't do that -- that's two years of development time we'd be wasting.
Any other thoughts?
