Who else does them? Ever win?..i do about 3 squares a year at $25 each. But my rant? I ALWAYS seem to get stuck with a 5,2 or 8...always...or even a 1...just give me a 0 3 or 7 please

Father won 3 years ago..half time score for $400 i think

I got 4 squares at $5 each for the one I'm doing with my coworkers

Have been in a $100 square pool for a while Split with 3 other guys. We haven't won much recently. However, in the early 90s we won when the squares were 200 per (buffalo vs. Dallas) and took home about 6K each. We also won for SB 36 and 38 when the Pats won to the tune of about 3400 each (the pool went to 100/square) Hoping to regain our luck on Sunday!

yeah you can make some good $$ on those

Can someone please explain this game to me? I bought a square for 10 bucks and honestly had no clue what I was doing :(

They filled up too quickly this year at my office for me to get any. Which was just as well since I really wasn't in any mood to play this year after we lost. :( Usually I put in for about three squares at $10 a pop. I've won the weekly pickem pool at work but never the big-money Super Bowl squares. I've got (what I thought anyway) were good squares but no go. They're harder to win than they look. My Dad back in Super Bowl XXI in '87 (Broncos and Giants) got the 0-0 combination, which he thought was unbeatable. Of course the damn Giants had to screw it up where the kicker (Raul Allegre, was it?) missed the PAT in the 4th quarter. Final score: 39-20. No $$ for Dad. :bricks:

for the most part the set up of the game is the same the only difference is how one might buy the squares and the pay out of the pool of cash will differ . . .

but the bottom line you make a grid of boxes (squares) which is 10 x 10 or 100 total boxes . . . along the top you label on team and on the side you label another team . . . the top team relates to the columns and the side team to the rows . . .

then each colunm is given an number and the same with each row, from 0 to 9 . . . to makes things easy the first column 0, second col is 1 and so on till the last one is 9 , and the rows are down the same way with the top row being labeled 0 and bottom one 9 . . .

so the upper left box will be column "0" and row "0" the upper right box would be column "9" row "0" and these are the corresponding numbers for each team . . .

so say for example you pool is set up like above . . . and the top team (who has the column numbers) is the 49ers and the left team is the Ravens (who has the row numbers) . . . if you have the upper right box then you would have a box that would be column "9" and row "0" and so it would be 49ers "9" and Ravens "0"

now these two numbers signify the last number in their score . . . so for teh 49ers it would be "9" or 9, 19, 29, 39, 49 and so on, and for the Ravens it would be "0" . . . so 0, 10, 20, 30, and so on . . .

now comes how does your pool distribute the money, if it is $5 per square, we would have $500 in the pool and you pool might divide the money 100 per qtr for the first three quarter and 200 for the last . . . so there are four snap shots in which the money is paid out and is at the end of each qtr . . . so if your square is matching the same numbers at the end of any quarter you will win that payout . . .

or bottom line if at the end of any qtr the 49ers score ends in a 9 AND the Ravens score ends in a 0 you win . . . you need both to match and with the respective team . . .

i know this is long but i hope it helps , , , much easier to explain it in person with a 100 square matrix . . .

A buddy of mine does a pool for $2,500 a square....The only good thing is that it pays out not only the square that hits but if you have a square to the 4 sides touching then you win some money and if you have a square that touches the corners then you win some money....So you have a better chance to win then just the square hitting itself because for $2,500 that would be ridiculous...Actually even with these rules I tell him he is ridiculous but he usually hits something and has won more money than he has lost over the 3 years he has done this pool...

2,500 a square? payout is insane in that

Personal story:

SB24: I had SF 4, Denver 3. Leading 7-3 late in the 1st, SF scores another TD so a payout looks in the bag. They missed the PAT.

Pats-related story:

SB38: My brother drew awful numbers: 9 and 2. Of course those are the final winning numbers...but he had the wrong teams. A couple minutes earlier, though, he had the right teams after Faulk's 2pt conversion.

Regards,
Chris

On ours the numbers are randomized after it fills up and the top is the kicking team side is receiving team

OK, just got my numbers for my squares (I bought two):

- Niners 7, Ravens 3.
- 5 and 5.

So obviously the final score will be Niners 45, Ravens 35.

5's are tough..i always seem to get 5's...that reminds me..i can get my #s tonight

One good one and one bad one. That's usually how mine turned out when I did them. 7-3 is a good first quarter score, obviously.

5 and 5 is like the worst...I always felt bad for whatever poor sucker got the 5 and 5 one. I always checked it when the final squares came out. :)

1st half #s....2,7 and 2,8....well i can forget the first half....

2nd half is better: 4ers 4 ravens 0 49ers 3 ravens 1

0 3 and 8 7...wish the right was different but not too shabby
