Don't buy it. He would always make the pity play and plead ill health and financial hardship the 23 times Ian banned him. Finally he got the well deserved permanent ban hammer after threatening several posters...repeatedly.

I think most old threads went down the memory hole as Ian attempted to erase all of his posts from day one.

Absolutely. I remember all too well how I would think "Well, he's just a crazy old uncle -- a bit too passionate, but still basically a guy with his heart in the right place" but the truth is, however much latitude he was given, he'd always go too far. Poor guy. Still, he served, he is counted ...

Sometimes coming back as another identity, including his wife and a female fan. I'm not sure if I would classify it as comical or just plain sad.

The Linda the Pats Fan run was short...I almost missed it. I remember thinking, "Damn, this chick talks and swears just like a guy." (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Didn't also spread a rumor or bad mouth Ian on other fan boards? I remember he did something else that was pretty low beyond threatening other posters.

Didn't he also get banned from his "own" Patriots board? The story I had heard was that he was banned from one Patriots fan board and decided to start his own. Eventually he became so unbearable that the other mods banned him.

As for the stories of him hitting hard times financially, someone else noted that he while he claimed to have lost his car, TV, etc, he never seems to lose his PC or internet access.

The last straw was he harassed Ian at home via phone over a suspension for threatening another poster... Ian had enough.

Sometimes I wonder if NEM is really "Steve from Fall River"....

They found Nem in November 2011. He was hiding in a car driving out of Rocinha as hundreds of officers moved in.

His driver tried to prevent the car from being searched by claiming diplomatic immunity. He said he was the honorary consul of the Democratic Republic of Congo.


Apparently, this feint only works if you've remembered to have that flag of Congo attached to your front fender.

Yes, got banned from his own board due to soliciting donations from other members as I recall. Got banned from KFFL (twice) and Patriots Planet. Used to post as "AWOM" too many years ago - claimed it was "A Weis Old Man".

I wanna say that the whole upheaval around NEM was occurring about the time I started here. That was only a few months before you joined, but he might have already been been booted by July. He was not on here long when I got here. I remember thinking "who the eff is this friggin guy". If I recall, he was pretty active in the PoFo too. A real disagreeable prig, if their ever was one.
