6th for Gorin

The Patriots will receive a sixth-round draft pick from the Arizona Cardinals from the trade of offensive tackle Brandon Gorin prior to the 2006 season.

The round of the pick was unknown when the trade was made, as the pick was conditional. The sixth-round pick is the sixth overall pick in that round.

The Patriots also made trades for conditional picks with running back Patrick Cobbs and center Ross Tucker, but the conditions weren't met on those trades, and thus the Patriots don't receive any picks.

Not bad at all!

If they were to trade this pick let's say, it would allow them to move up to the beginning of round 4 for example (~#5 in Rnd 4 if they traded their 4th + this 6th).

I don't believe Gorin played a snap this year, despite the Cardinals' OL woes. Have to wonder what the pick would have been if he'd made it onto the field!

A 6th rounder for Gorin is an outright steal. Free draft pick. Almost makes up for the Gabriel debacle.

It replaces the pick we lost with the Gabriel trade (5th round). :)

I believe it's #165 at present. Will fall some once comp picks are announced could be as many as 10 to 15 spots. So, we will end up with 175-180, around there.:rocker:

Sweet.

Another 6th round gem??

It's still pretty sweet to have a free pick essentially. Hey come on now Pioli, you can grab the next Marques Colston with that 6th round pick can't you? :) I believe the Pats need to do their homework bigtime this offseason.

It (6th in the 6th) is basically the Gabriel pick (28th in the 5th). :rocker:

The Pats could make a killing in this draft:)

My first thought echoed most of yours, it's only 10 picks (+ comp picks) lower than the Garbiel lost pick.

Gorin was worth at least a 6th, IMHO: young veteran starter for a good team with two years remaining on a cheap contract.

BB 6th-rounders:

Jeremy Mincey
Dan Stevenson
Le Kevin Smith
Kliff Kingsbury
Arther Love
Leonard Myers
Antwan Harris
Tom Brady
David Nugent

I figured that Patriots would, at best, receive a 7th round draft pick for Gorin. Trading a fifth round draft pick for Doug Gabriel doesn't hurt as much now.

A 1,000 posts for ATippett56.

You know what that means. Break out the paddles.

We still got value from gabriel. We got about 1/3 of a season out of him at a time when we really needed help at WR, we didn't have many and those we had were new to Brady.

Keeping us competitive in the early season games was worth it.

Gave Gaffney time to absorb the offense as well.
