What's the boards opinion on signing Dwayne Bowe. It is doubtful KC franchises him again and he has had success in the Weis offense, his best year as a pro actually with Matt Cassel throwing him the ball

72 Receptions, 1162 yards, 16.1 yards per catch, 15 TDs

He would probably cost the same as Welker, but for a few more years

5 years 50 million is the most he'd cost.

This would give our offense a true do it all receiver he's physical, he can go deep, he can catch intermediate balls, draws the number 1 corner, takes off pressure from the middle.

Lets get Brady his best receiver since Moss

I think it's time to break the bank for that deep threat in order to make this offense unstoppable.

Bowe: 6'2, 220 pounds...28 years old. Straight up, can go up and get it. EXACTLY what we need.

Whats a harder offense to stop?

Bowe, Lloyd, Gronk, Hernandez, Ballard?

Or..

Welker, Lloyd, Gronk, Hernandez, Ballard?

Answer: with Bowe. Why? Because every inch of the field has to be respected...not just the middle of the field, where Welker does 90% of his work. I can't stress how much I have appreciated what Welks has done for us, but the Pats offense relies on him too much and as a result, when the playoffs come, you take away the middle of the field from Brady, you win the game.

Whatever WR we get, needs to replace Lloyd, not Welker. Lloyd is an idiot who can't take a hit, and can't get YAC.

Agreed and to those that say Bowe may not have chemistry with Brady. Screw it dude is one of the smartest quarterbacks ever, how can he not find a way to use this physical BEAST its not a 35 year old ocho stinko its 28 year old in his PRIME Bowe

I have been tuting Boww's horn for a while now but even though I love his skill set...IF we are priced out of his range...I would settle for Greg Jennings who was our original pick when we Traded with Greenbay for Chad Jackson. If Greg Jennings is on this Team Wes wouldn't be our number 1 option...yeah I said it! Greg Jennings can run every route in the book deep - intermediate - short His route tree is sick when healthy he is an Elite WR. P.s. Jenings would make Lloyd look like dog poop.

Personally, I dont want a 10 Mil a year WR. Its part of the reason I am ok with letting Wes walk but if we are going to shell out big money I would much rather Wes than Bowe.

My opinion on the offense though is that Gronk and Hernandez got the big money the rest will need to be cheaper options but please not bargain basement options like this year. I think the roster as whole works better if we let Welker walk and replace him with an option that should be cheap like Edelman (huge downgrade at the position) Then we get another 2-3 Mil WR who can threaten deep (maybe a draft pick) kinda like the Stallworth signing on 07. This saves 4-5 Mil which can be used for an impact player on D.

I disagree. I believe a deep threat opposite of Lloyd would make Lloyd even more effective in this system. There's too many people (Welker, Hernandez, Gronk, Ballard, Edelman) who are in the middle of the field, and not enough people stretching the field.

I'd be really opposed to giving a five year deal to a guy who turns 29 early next season.

People give welker crap for dropping balls in the SB and AFCCG, they will NOT like this guy. He has an uncanny ability to drop a ball at the absolute worst time. Otherwise, a great player, but that's a pretty big knock on a guy that is supposed to push us over the top and make the key play in the big game.

I don't even know where to begin in addressing this post

People are going to love this guy

1) He is a nuckle head

2) He has been the Top 10 in dropped catchable passes over the last few years

3) He loves to run around and did alot of worst when the kansas chief tried to implement the the NE system.

4) he wants to be paid , even if has not a very productive year as he will tell you he is the top receiver .11-12 m range.

I don't want to give any WR at 10 mil. The draft has some good WR's who will go late 1 to the end of the 2nd. I'd be happy trading Welker for a pick, drafting WR with 2 of your first 3 picks, bringing back Edelman and using the rest of the money on Talib, maybe Vollmer or maybe more D help.

Wes Welker is a much better receiver than Dwayne Bowe. And, by much better, I mean that Bowe doesn't even belong in the conversation.

You think rookies will be good enough come play off time to help us out,

it takes a while we drafted Branch in 02 and missed the playoffs. I'm scared to trust our last few golden years to rookies at position we have 0 success at drafting.

No....

The WR they get needs to replace Branch, but he needs to be an outside the lines guy who can win battles against press coverage.

lloyd is an idiot...you heard it here first

Bowe over welker? HA

This. They might as well put a cheerleader out there running routes at this point.

Yes but the reason that they missed the playoffs in 02 wasn't because Branch was a rookie.

It was because the run defense was one of the worst in the NFL and the pass defense allowed WRs to run around uncontested.

I like Lloyd very much, but there is at least a grain of truth in that post: He shies away from contact in a way that makes Deion Branch look like Earl Campbell.
