Reactions to BB/Shannon Sharpe critic

This whole thing is nuts!! How is it bad sportsmanship (and to whom?) not to answer a "how do you feel" question on the field? Didn't BB say Baltimore was better and deserved to win? That the Pats were outcoached and outplayed? Have we ever heard BB blame weather, penalties, injuries, or whatever and not give the other team credit?

BB looks like he does not want to be at the presser for half the wins either.

And has he ever been as ungracious in victory as Suggs?

(It's like the gimmick of hurry-up when Pats do it, but OK when Peyton has been doing it for years?)

It's easy to take shots at BB. He'll never respond to it.

He doesn't talk to the media when he doesn't have to. So what?

A logical explanation would be that in the heat of losing a big game ending the season he doesn't want to say something he will later regret or that will either embarrass him or Bob Kraft or the New England Patriots. Some members of the media and others would do well to learn from such reticence.

Then again the media and Shannon Sharpe have agendas that don't exactly dovetail with the best interests of the BB, the Pats, the Krafts or Pats' fans.

Take these critics opinions with a grain of salt. It's all about petty vendettas and self promotion.

Cris Carter and Boomer Esiason are probably the two most hated "personalities" on TV by their colleques. Costas is a pompous little twerp, a self important windbag who's made a living out of fake outrage and lecturing hyperbole. Sharpe can barely string two coherent words together and Suggs beats up women and pours bleach on his infant son.

They are all attention whores who are in no position to be lecturing anybody else on how to conduct themselves.

Most fans understand BB's attitude toward the media and think nothing of it.
Why the media continues to make this and issue is beyond us and can only be because they want a rating hit or are such bad reporters they do not remember the years before.
Sean Payton does the same thing, and even bans reporters hes sick of from the saints facilities, but I dont hear that reported.
Bill Parcells was exactly the same way and hes not vilified. Hes just seen a quirky old coach that hated media. Im sure they both learned it from him.

Sharp being a commentator in the 1st place is kind of a joke. Hes certainly doesnt have the mental ability to think objectively, write a coherent and interesting article, no idea why he has a job.

I think most fans like BB's attitude. Do whats required , but Im a coach, not a spokesmen. Shows he has the right priorities for the job.

thanks for finding those, i obviously turned the channel and missed those (2 crushing losses). those interviews are about as insightful as his press conferences

No problem. And Lol yeah, I didn't watch either of those two interviews live at the time either because those losses were absolutely gut wrenching, but I eventually watched them a few months after each loss and remembered them specifically when you asked the question.

BB should have put his big boy pants on and done the interview. Nothing Sharpe said was inaccurate or unreasonable.

That may be true, but where's the equal outrage for Mike Smith not doing a TV interview (correct me if I'm wrong).

It's wrong if anyone does it. We would be rightfully castigating any other coach who acted that way. As far as the disproportionate outrage observation, I don't think we have to worry about BB's feelings...I'm sure he is not losing sleep over it.

The TV guys are such hypocrites, they're the first ones to laugh and love it when someone goes off, when Bart Scott yaps or Suggs. Hell, Sharpe is the definition of classless. So they're going to get upset when Belichick doesn't give them a perfunctory couple of words?

I disagree with Brick on this one. It's all opera, all show.

Disagree. Most Pats fans will understand/like this attitude but not the other fans.

Just check the comments on the yahoo story on this and you will realize. That is just the guys who bothered to post; more polite responses if asked face-to-face but nearly say BB is a jerk.

I don't care and am actually glad that BB manages to rile this media. :)

Hope he had done it after we won though!

I'm not trying make this up but a buddy of mine told me that BB/Tasker have a little animosity towards each other. Will search for info backup his claim. Seems a bit far-fetched but might explain why BB sent out McCourty.

Nonetheless, I think BB should have come out and given his normal curt responses.

Why do some become so sensitive and adopt a "BB can do no wrong" attitude when he does something that we would otherwise disagree with if anyone else did it? People act as if they have to come to the defense of a baby brother getting beat up instead acknowledging a simple but relaivtely harmless truth about a grown man. Granted it doesn't make BB any less of a coach and he didn't club a baby seal at the 50 yard line but Sharpe was right.

Peter King: Audience better off without Belichick postgame interview | The Dan Patrick Show | Official Home

King weighed in on Bill Belichick not doing a postgame interview. “I’ve been around him enough to know that most often he’s going to satisfy his media’s obligations and not do much more beyond that,” King said. He thinks that the audience is probably better served with Belichick not coming out.

King also weighed in on why many fans don’t like the Patriots. He said it’s a combo of them winning and Belichick. He said that SpyGate is also a big factor for many fans.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Shannon ******ing Sharpe is lecturing ANYONE on good sportsmanship?

If Marshal Faulk were not 10 times more biased, Sharpe would be my least favorite commentator.

Actually it's the other way around; Sharpe is ten times more biased against the Patriots than Faulk is, difficult as that may be to imagine. From his infamous 'call the national guard' comment when he was a player to bringing up ***gate on twitter after the end of each and every Pats season, Sharpe is far more biased. Faulk actually came around and was complimentary towards the Patriots quite often this past season.

Actually ***gate is a bigger thing to King than it is to the vast majority of fans.

Why am I not surprised that Sharpe and others are making a big deal out of nothing: Belichick did not violate the NFL’s media relations policy by not speaking with CBS following the game

Would it have been super-classy and double extra gracious if he did? Sure, but the whole issue is irrelevant. Does anyone remember what Smith had to say on Sunday? Or what both Harbaugh's had to say last year? Does anyone tune in to a Conference Championship game thinking "I can't wait to hear what the losing coach has to say on the field right after the game."
