A Rodney Harrison. A Brian Cox. We need some swagger.

There. I feel better now.

Definitely need a major upgrade at the SS position. Gregory was abysmal last night.

I don't see Gregory, Chung, and Arrington returning this fall.

True, but I am not only thinking their level of play. The Pats need attitude.

If the rest of the world thinks are beloved Patriots are such bad guys (which following the Pats you know they are on crack), give the people what they want. And that could be exactly what this team needs.

Yes. We definitely need more good DBs.
When I saw Talib limping off the field at the end of the first half, I thought that if he does not return, the defense will go back to being what it was earlier in the season...that is...cannot defend the pass for their life.
That is exactly what happened, too.

Spikes, Hightower, Mayo, and Wilfork have that attitude, that confident swagger, that physical presence that says "you don't want to mess with me!"

It would be nice to find a safety and a DB with those attributes as well, I admit.

Do you want a SS who can hit or a SS who can cover? They're almost completely mutually exclusive, and I'd be a lot more interested in getting a guy who defends the pass better than the run.

Among other things. Yes. Agreed.

Also, a deep threat (ever since Moss left, no replacement). Maybe even 2 deep threats. Lloyd isn't exactly a deep threat. More like a different version of Welker that grabs the mid throws fairly well.

Ok, where the fcuk were they last night then? They weren't there. MIA. They need a leader for the defense. Truly.

The Chung experiment should be coming to an end. He is in a contract year and the dude is always hurt. Don't be shocked if BB goes after Ed Reed.

Mayo and Hightower don't have that attitude. Maybe because it was Hightower's rookie year, fine. Mayo just isn't the guy pumping up the defense on the sideline.

It sounds like you are asking for someone who will placate you by sounding like a tough guy in interviews.

How do you know that?

What issues do you think happened last night that were due to 'leadership' and why werent they there throught a 12-4 season and trip to the AFCCG?

Hate on Bernard Pollard all you want but an enforcer like him who isn't terrible in coverage is exactly what this secondary has needed for a long time. Those of you who have read my thoughts on Ryan Clark in the past know that this isn't a new thought for me.

Lawyer Milloy. John Lynch. Rodney Harrison. Troy Polamalu. Bob Sanders. Safeties that set the tone for their defense, and will decleat you. This SB will feature Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Dashon Goldson, and Donte Whitner, four mean safeties. We need a guy like that, who won't make stupid mental errors the way Brandon Meriweather did. I thought we were getting that when we drafted Patrick Chung, but apparently not. Devin McCourty is a nice ball hawking defensive back, but he is not a tone setter.

Devin Mccourty hopefully with a full offseason can make a full transition to safety and lock up one of the two positions. We need a Brandon Spikes in the secondary who can lay the wood and instill fear in receivers.

Looking at San Francisco and Baltimore they both have those types of players patrolling the secondary. POS Bernard Pollard :)mad:) and Donte Whitner. We haven't had that type of player since Rodney retired.

Laron Landry is ideal for that position.
