Me too. I long for the days when Belichick actually paid attention to what was happening when the offense was on the field instead of assuming... He spent all game again coaching up the defense and it only seemed to make matters worse. Remember in the first superbowl when the Pats missed on the fade and on the next play Belichick had Charlie call it again only as an out and up because he saw something in the way they were defending the play? TD...

They have become too reliant on scheme.
It would seem that way given teams who have managed to disrupt the scheme have had success against New England. Those teams all appear to be similar in construction.

I'm starting to wonder if giving 54 Million to Gronk and 30+plus million to Hernandez was a mistake. They are exceptionally talented, but when can they ever play at the same time?? This is the stage where you earn your money, and they just are either hurt or fail to deliver in this game. I dont care about those 3 TD games one of them has against the Buffalo Bills in October

At some point, you have to expect Gronk and Hernandez to be injured next year at various intervals based on their crappy durability history. I think the Pats should go into the offseason thinking this, and they need to get dirtier at the wideout position and inject as much talent as possible. Sign Welker, but if he must go, be creative and go all out and get a tall star WR via blockbuster trade. We would have to give up picks and some good players, but I would be all for that because Brady has one or 2 years left really of high level play.

Basically people need to calm down and realize how good the Pats have it going forward. The AFC will only get weaker around the Pats (aside from the Texans who are a complete toss up at this point). The Broncos and Steelers are stagnating and this really is the Ravens last hurrah for a while. Look forward to minicamp in May.

I don't think being in the weak AFC is doing the Patriots any good at this point. I'd rather them be in a tougher division/conference, maybe it would toughen them up during the reg. season so they don't crumble when it matters most.

This board gives me more LOL than anything after a loss...keep it coming guys

Looking at this season, I would argue that pretty much ALL the time GRONK and Hernandez missed can be chalked up to "freak injury" rather than "crappy durability history."

Im with you, just when you think you've seen the dumbest post of the night, you read another thread, some of the clowns want to get rid of all the good players and get some more durable players LOL is right.

another guy wants G.Jennings.....he is a better Lloyd, no one cares to take a look at Mike Wallace? We need a burner like that, just ask the Ravens

brady is simply too old to be counted on for the magnitude of his responsibilities in the offense.....the pats need to become even more sun oriented.

guys his age begin to become more complementary because as the possibility of their injury increases, the more you have to have a scheme that your next guy won't get lost in until he is ready

as is, brady is going to wind up another warren moon

Another post from you saying Brady is old, Man you come only when the Pats lose and then trash Brady , i bet you the minute you logout from here you must be logging in to your ADMIN account in one of the jets boards and posting a link to your negative posts here saying "HERE LOOK WHAT THE PATS FANS ARE SAYING ABOUT BRADY"

and nobody remembers we were suppose to get the superbowl loser's curse, which is....wait for it....freak injuries! Should be feeling lucky with all the freak injuries we still made it to the AFC champ game. But the downside is that we get ****ty draft position again!

I love the optimism!

However I am debbie downer. Brady is getting older and I'm wondering if he starts to wear down in the playoffs. Welker might be gone. Who knows about the D.

That said, I'm keeping hope. As long as we have BB & Brady, we are contenders!

to be fair to the offense, they were down 28-13 early in the fourth quarter. no team is going to score 15 goals in just 10 minutes, not even the pats. better luck to us next year.

This team still has the same old flaws and health is such a factor. We always enter the playoffs missing somebody.

The last time they lost in a Championship game they went out and assembled the greatest offense ever seen and added a pass rusher.

Don't be surprised to see another big splash in FA with some clever cap moves to make the room and go for it big time.

The offense had Brady, Welker, Hernandez, Lloyd, Ridley/Vereen/Woodhead and a bunch of good blockers. It's not like they were woefully undermanned. They just didn't perform.

As for the defense, its seriously plus players this season were in some order Wilfork, Mayo, McCourty, Talib, Ninkovich, and Jones. Jones was dinged up the latter part of the season, and irrelevant tonight. Talib was out of the game early. Hightower looks reasonably likely to join the list of excellent players soon. So there's hope -- but by the end of next postseason, 1 or 2 of those guys will likely be unavailable again.

The 18-1 season, as I have said before, is the yardstick against which all other disappointments are measured.

When Talib went down, the game was definitely in question for me. We need secondary help, it is that simple and it has been that way for a while. Passing is a big point of emphasis in today's NFL. We have good run stoppers, now can we work on the back end in the draft please.

At the end of the day this is a fan forum, a great place to come to express opinions about our team. But the people doing the expressing, as much as I hate to say it...like 52 said after their loss last year, have other more pressing issues in their lives going on.

Personally I am sure I will dip in and out of the forum to see what the latest news is but often-times I think of posters who have real serious issues with their children, spouses and friends. The NFL is just a game. It really is. Let's put it in perspective and let's look forward to the draft.

Now we can just watch the Superbowl as football fans. Who cares who wins, hopefully it will be a good game. And let's be proud of our team who stays so competitive year after year.

Most importantly don't let it consume you, your friends and family should be doing that!

It's a new day.

After SB 46, I stopped listening to Boston sports radio, so the trend will continue.

Now, I'm waiting for the Jeff Demps era to begin.

Sorry, we can't look at last night and take comfort that it "wasn't as disappointing as the 18-1 season".

+1

Of course we have "real lives" outside of the forum but this is a Pats messageboard, the fact that you apparently don't understand why fans are voicing their frustration on such a forum doesn't mean they are losing perspective on life's priorities. If people are lining up on the Tobin bridge I agree but what better place than here to voice frustration at your football team after a brutal loss?

Your semi subliminal point is that anyone who voices pessimism or a critique after a loss likely has some issues in their personal lives and/or lack perspective. If the Pats had won the forum would be rightfully filled with happy posters. I kinda doubt someone would lecture them that "it's only a game" in response to their joyful posts. Again it is reasonable to expect and see fans make critiques or express frustrations after a loss just like it is to see the happy posts after a win. Or are "true" fans only permitted to make relentless happy/optimistic posts lest they be judged as having no life or being chicken littles? I personally like the balance, I don't want this messageboard which is comprised of some truly excellent football minds to be reduced to a pom pom waving clique.

Watching Brady try to throw long to Welker bums me out. WW doesn't get much separation and since he's so short Brady only has a tiny window where he can throw the ball. When he overthrows him people say Brady is getting old and losing it. Imagine if Brady had Julio Jones, Roddy White and Tony gonzales to throw to. If I see Branch out there again I'm going to lose it.

Forget about Ray Lewis being slow, Spikes and Hightower looked like they were running in quicksand in coverage.
