I try not to get overconfident, but I think the Pats will dominate this time.
I just think the timing is right this season.

They were saying in the opening they had over 100 cameras for this game. That was great when Suggs got up after getting hit " Who did That?"

Me too, I think the fact that we didn't fully dominate the Texans and let them hang around is good for this weekend. Last year we annihilated Denver and then came up flat in the AFCC. Just hope that Brady's on his game then the game shouldn't be close.

It's amazing how different in terms of personnel the team in this game was compared to who will be playing on Sunday, whether it be through injuries or turnover...

Look at some of the guys in last year's game off the top of my head:

Edelman (on offense and on defense!)
Gronk (for most of it)
Mark Anderson
Gerard Warren
Inhedigbo (sp?)
Fletcher
Sterling Moore

That's not even counting guys who are still on this team but in diminished roles this time around (Chung, Branch).

I was thinking the same thing....especially in the secondary and at LB. We're much better now than we were then.

What a fun team we had last year. Not to say that I don't love watching this team, but last year just had something special about them. Whether it was playing for MHK or the complete emergence of the TEs or the dominance of Carter/Anderson, we had something special last year.

Ravens fan here. I'll be at the game Sunday to support my boys but my objective view is that the Pats will win, to be honest. Won't stop me from going to the game.

I think the Ravens will be fine on offense. They'll move the ball fairly easy but they can't settle for FGs in the red zone. The part of the Pats D that scares me, as should come to no surprise, is Wilfork. Dude might be the best player at their own position right now. He manhandled Birk last year. We're gonna have to double him most of the time to tame him as best we can.

Onto the topic of slowing the Patriots offense. The only chance we have of slowing you guys down is pressure. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Force Tom to make a mistake. Kruger is getting a sack a game for a long stretch of games and Suggs is regaining his old form. Upshaw is coming into his own as well. If we don't get pressure, it could be a long day for the Ravens, as well as for me. Our LBs in coverage are very, very weak. You guys should have the middle of the field open pretty much all day. Our DB play is pretty solid on the sidelines and can only do so much.

All in all, I think the Pats ended up taking this game by 10 or so. Obviously I hope I'm dead wrong but I'll be there supporting my boys just like you guys will with the Pats. But I will say, despite what happened last year, if the Ravens are down by less than 7 points with the ball under 2 minutes in the 4th...I like our chances.

It's hard to say, looking from what I have seen the we (pats) should be able to win this game fairly easily. But then again you guys usually put up a excellent fight. Sundays game can go either way.

so if you guys have been watching this you'll notice how edelman was on boldin, idk for how long but the fact that he was on defense and we still won makes me feel better about this game. And i saw the stats pull up on their defense and they were 3rd against the pass and 2nd against the run so that made them i think 3rd overall on defense. RIGHT NOW they're 15th overall. Ravens also dont have Webb and jimmy smith is used only on ST because his play just diminished.

Crazy when you think that we had ihedibo as safety and arrington and mccourty as cb's.

We've improved since last year while Bmore has gotten older and worse in terms of their defensive stats.

Our starting cb's aren't even the same from last year. We'll have talib and dennard who are both better than what arrington mccourty and moore did at cb. Obviously except for moore's save at the end but our defense is certainly a lot better than last year. Add in chandler jones and hightower, whom are athletic at their position and you start feeling good about sunday.

On offense, we will miss gronk. God he's like a bear out there. But hernandez was really opening them up. Welker was doing a good job being as reliable and he always is. So this time around we'll have B lloyd who always has good games against the ravens, Check out his stats i dont have them on hand. AND we have a running game. We were 20th in the run last year. Right now as it stands we're top ten. The fact that Vereen finally stepped up out of no where also only helps to lighten the loss of gronk. I honestly can't wait for this game. Again, im not saying it'll be a blowout but i def feel good about the pats chances of winning the game.

I know most people will think otherwise, I will always remember this game for the touchdown dive by Tom Brady. Sacrificed his body to put his team up. Really scared at the time thinking that he got hurt. I that doesn't tell you how competitive Tom Brady is, I don't know what does.

Welcome and thanks for the respectful post. It's nice to see fans from other teams come here with grace; hopefully our fans do the same at other forums.

I'm on the other side of the coin of you: I obviously want the Patriots to win but have a feeling that the Ravens pull this one out, despite what the numbers may say.

After watching this game after an yr a few things I observed

Flacco outplayed brady ? Really ? Maybe he did but not really by much, not to mention the defenses both were going against. And after all said and done , they score 20 pts in 4 quarters.

Pats last score was the the drive when gronk got injured .After the spikes INT they couldnt put it away and didnt score rest of the game. Maybe it was a factor.

Brady led the pats on the game winning drive ,put them in a position to win and then the ravens failed to put it in the endzone in the last seconds. Contrast it with last week when manning went on a game winning drive and his defense coughed up the lead. And all we hear was how ravens shouldve won last yr and brady was outplayed but manning put them in a position to win.

Our backs are much faster this yr but not sure our oline is as good as it was last yr. At least a lot more experience last yr.Could be an interesting thing to see.

Last yr and even this sept game, our run defense wasnt very good when needed .They need to tighten it up this game .
Ravens have replaced lee evans with torrey smith and that is a huge up for them from last yr. At the same time webb is out so that could even things out on defense.

I was in the stadium last year so I didn't get any of the crazy commentary about Brady's play, but watching last night's game didn't give me the impression he played badly.

The thing is, the bomb to Slater after the Spikes INT was a horrendously bad decision, and I've only seen Brady have a brainlock in important moments like that just 2 or 3 times during his career (Super Bowl against the Panthers). The throw for an INT earlier was just a bad throw rather than a bad decision since it was a tad short.

But does one bad decision mean you played horribly?

Maybe yes, if you're Brady. And when he said "I sucked" people didn't really get that he's his harshest critic, and the throw to Slater was one of the worst of his career.

One throw can make you say, "I sucked." Even if the reality is that you played well most of the game. And he did. 2 bad INTs can make a good game into a horrible game (unless you're Peyton Manning). The thing is, Brady's criticism of himself is the thing most remember, whereas the same standards are considerably lower for other QBs.

I blame the offensive sputters on O'Brien and some bad running play calls, a problem which actually continued into the Super Bowl. I blame last year on O'Brien almost totally anyway. So glad that Josh McD is back.

Well it was more than one bad decision. He did have another bad pick in the first half so that is 2 right there. And last night seeing how wide open Gronk was for what should have been the first TD showed me another monumental error for Brady. I didn't remember Gronk being THAT open. I'd imagine there were more errors but I wasn't able to watch past the long bomb to Smith after the first Brady pick. I do know that in addition to these we were not good in the red zone, and the two times we did convert were rushing TD's (albeit one being a sneak by Brady). So IMO it was a subpar game especially for Brady's standards. Not complaining or anything because there's no QB I'd rather have but that's how I saw it.

I agree that Flacco's performance was a bit overrated, but again for his standards it was a really good game. And agree with JMD being a huge upgrade over BOB. Although in BOB's defense, that offense was not accustomed to life without Gronk or blessed with extra weapons like Lloyd/Vereen as this year's team is. Nonetheless I'm far more confident in JMD.
