Hey, Woody.

Looks good. The only thing that worries me is how well the injury will effect his blocking in pass protection, if they even use him for that Sunday.

Or catching the ball. My guess is he won't be used much unless something happens to Vereen.

Exactly. This Sunday Woody is emergency backup for Ben.
Heal quickly, my Hobbit!

I am happy to see him back, but not sure how effective he will be catching the ball.... It really pains me to see Gronk out for Sunday and the SB if we win:(

He's a much better blocker than Vereen, but I doubt they will use him much. His blocking would definitely drop off with a broken thumb. I'm looking forward to seeing more two back sets with Vereen and Ridley on the field at the same time.

Although its not nice.

If we win the Superbowl. I'll get over it. Verrrry quickly.

I would think that the blocking would be ok he can still get to the right spot and get low and deliver a nice pop. Catching is what I think would be tougher not impossible but tougher and I think he could take hand offs and obviously just carry it with the good hand. He possibly could use something different for the game too..maybe he shoots up and just uses both hands and thumb as a softer cast, tape, or other support.

I would think the plan is to go with Vareen more but who knows what scenario could come up and they might need Woody.

I knew it!

Another ingenius ploy by the Pats to make the Ravens forget about Woody, and so they won't practice schemes for him and Woody will be set free out of the backfield for two receiving touchdowns!

Excellent.

Not underestimating Woody nor down playing his injury but with his BIG heart makes him even more dangerous. DW will know how far he can go and JMac will incorperate him as he sees fit. If Woody holds on that ball with no problem Ravens LBs will be in for long day with his quickness & speed into their secondary especially in 3rd & 4th Quarters when Raven's D gets fatigued.

I can't imagine how much it would hurt to catch a bullet from Brady with an already traumatized thumb. Pro footballers are a special breed

Just wrap "My Precious" around that thumb and all will be right with our Hobbit

How about Brandon Bolden? He was beasting before his suspension. If Woodhead is not 100%, would it be effective to use Bolden as a 3rd back?

Was he active for the Texans game? (though I don't think he got any snaps) His recent absence might make it harder for Ravens DC to gameplan for him. Thoughts?

I'm with you. Bolden can definitely be used in this game if Woodhead isn't 100 %! We just never knows what the PATS gameplan is going to be. They're very unpredictable in their approach to each game. NE's unpredictability is what makes them so scary!

Woody's loss will be minimal provided SV can play steady+ a la the Texans game. If he gets the yips like he did against the 9ers and we are in need of some rock solid play then not having Woody will hurt. Either way, if he can't go, SV is going to have to step up his blitz pickup. That is a HUGE responsibility that can have serious effects on the offense without it.
