May help push some of those hailmarys our way :D

Brady can laser a ball through most wind conditions, and usually his throws are bullets rather than lobs,

flacco on the other hand throws lobs up, and usually quite deep

i would say windy conditions are a plus for us, especially if (as i believe) we will shut down Rice's running, but Bmore wont b able to handle our running

Is Freyr with us again? :D

Flacco's arm is just as strong, but it's usually the deep ball. Which might be tough to do if windy. Brady is much more accurate in the short passing game. I also think we have a better chance of establishing the run on them than they do on us.

If it is windy it definitely gives an added advantage to the team with the better run game. Separately it favors the team with the better short passing game.

Under routine circumstances it is difficult to consistently deliver an accurate throw on the long passes. Half the time they are actually completed the receiver had to significantly adjust his route to make the catch. Provided the coverage isn't so blown that the receiver has nobody within 7 yards of him, a windy enough day should largely kill the long ball. Seemingly this would favor the Patriots as their short game proficiency is well known and Flacco has been throwing the long ball (quite well) a lot lately.
As far as the run game? That's an unknown. If the Ravens establish the run game then windy conditions will amplify that success. If the Patriots establish their ground game, same thing. The run game advantage due to wind will not be known until the game gets into full swing.

Another field goal gone wide... Who will be the culprit this time ?

Alright a weather thread.
Looks like the wind will die down at night to under 15MPH.

Strong wind would affect both QBs, but both throw a hard ball, so its mitigated.

The benefit to us would be if the wind is strong enough to mess with Flacco's deep ball. That could turn some of those bombs into INT and shrink the field. That's a huge part of their offense.

At the same time, we might not be able to complete pinpoint deep balls like we the ones to Welker or Vereen from this past Sunday either. So, maybe it's a wash.

20MPH doesn't seem bad enough to really be a huge factor, but maybe I'm wrong.

Agreed on this probably not being as big an advantage for us as it seems, if at all. Plus, the deep ball especially Flacco's aren't exactly a matter of accuracy it's letting the ball hang up there enough for your guy to make a play. Our pass attack is based on accuracy. And drawing a PI is usually just as effective as completing a deep ball, that ability which they relied on alot against us in the earlier meeting will hardly be altered by wind.

Being the heavy favorite in this one, I think calm conditions would be the preference(aside from snow obviously). Straight up, with no outside factors, fluke plays, or corrupt officiating we should be able to beat these guys easily. That's how we should want to play this one IMO.

Given what happened in the last cold weather game with precipitation this season, that's definitely a good thing. I'd rather see snow.

What's unusual about the forecast is that the forecast high is 44 and the low is 17. Which means that the temperature is going to plummet as the night and wind wear on. I hope the Pats score early.

The weather thread for the Houston game was dead wrong this far out calling for possible snow. As of now the winds are supposed to die out into the evening so it won't be as much of a factor if this was an early game as the forecast now stands. I'll just wait and see.

Hopefully, this will come to fruition!

I am not looking forward to 17F and windy!

Let's hope it is not windy. Yes, the Pats are a better short-passing team than Baltimore, but if it's windy then Baltimore will play their safeties closer to the LOS and a lot of man-coverage to negate the short passing game. The wind acts as kind of an extra deep safety or two.

If it's windy, Pats need to use the run game with an effective play-action to free up receivers from the tight underneath coverage.

Regards,
Chris

32 yard field goals are hard in the wind.

Latest shows a (relatively) warm start to the day, with cold air blowing in.

Hourly Weather Forecast - Foxboro, MA | Wunderground

Looks to be low 30s by game start, mid 20s by game end. So, yeah, temps dropping. Winds 15-20 -- pretty strong out of the west -- don't know how that lines up with how the stadium is situated.
