I think we finally have a Defense full of true football players for the first time in years.

Rob Ninkovich has been a huge asset to this defense and may be one of the most instinctive players on the team. He reminds me a lot of Tedy Bruschi with his football smarts. Like Tedy, Rob isn't an athletic freak but is a very aware player who makes consistent plays and has a knack for finding a way to the football.

Also, I just wanted to say that Gregory has been an upgrade at safety for us. He's another instinctive player that makes consistent plays. I was really impressed with the 1 on 1 open field match ups last game where he was able to make quick tackles to save potential long gain plays and get our offense back on the field.

This defense has just come together so much since earlier on in the season. If we can sign Talib long term and the younger players continue to improve. Watch out NFL!

Indeed. Ninko has really turned into a player, and while I'm still not certain about Gregory as a starting safety, he does look considerably better than he did earlier in the year.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's the fact that there are better players around him or not but he Gregory has improved vastly since the start of the season.

If we had a little more oomph in the secondary, I'd be thrilled. Remember 2003?

Ty Law, Ty Poole, Rodney and Eugene. :D

Gregory played a really good game last week and has played very well when he was healthy this year.

Ninko also had a good game last week but IMO his season deserves so much more credit he has been such a cog on defense and has come up with big plays time and time again.
I think he might be the second best player we have on defense. Clearly vince is number 1 after that you chose between Ninko, Mayo, Talib, or McCourty(maybe) and my choice might have to be Ninko with Mayo a close three and Talib 4.

I think that one of the bigger problems with Gregory is that he sometimes tries to lay out a hard hit, but he isn't a hard hitter so he just bounces off the guy. The problem here is that he throws himself at the player without wraping up, and if he bounces off, then the player is completely free. I think he needs to wrap up more.

I've been on the Ninko bandwagon for years and I can say with pride that what he's doing now and his importance to this team do not surprise me at all.

Gregory looks far better at this point that he looked earlier in the season. He's been playing extremely well. I'd be interested to see what the team does with him. Was he meant as just a stop-gap player, or do they have bigger plans for him. What about Tavon? What do you do with him if Gregory becomes the full-time starter at one safety position?
