Southwest Airlines has a web special that I found too good to pass up -- Boston to New Orleans on Saturday, Feb. 2 for $119. Flight leaves Logan at 11:25 a.m. and arrives in New Orleans at 5:25 p.m. I also booked the return flight on Monday, Feb. 4 from Houston (five-hour drive by rental car from New Orleans) for $142. Not a bad deal all around.

Of course, in the off chance that the Pats don't make the big game, Southwest allows you to apply credit on unused tickets to a future flight.

Have you ever won the SB ticket lottery as a STH?

Not sure if I'm telling you something you already know or not. But I was tempted to go last year, I watched tickets on Stubhub all week. In particular I watched two or three sets just to track the changes as game time approached.

Two of the sets didn't sell, as far as I could tell, they started between $2800 and $3200 per ticket. Stubhub had a tent at the stadium with a "will call" for people that bought tickets just before the game. I believe they stayed open up until one hour prior to kickoff. They didn't change much throughout the week. The morning of the game they dropped to around $2200 and then just about every hour they dropped eventually that same $3000 ticket was just above $800 an hour and half before kickoff.

Meaning you could buy the ticket on your phone, walk up to the tent, grab your ticket and walk into the SB for a few hundred bucks above face value, and you know your ticket is real.

You gonna sleep in a gutter?

I might join you. :D

No, and I'm in my 19th year. But I've still managed to attend four Pats Super Bowls despite loud complaints from my wallet. My reasoning is that you never know when it'll be the last opportunity of our lifetime to go.

19 years and no SB for a STH? Something is wrong with that

Not sure exactly how they work the seniority we have had an open non-stop account since 71 when they built the Stadium in Foxboro. They were initially in my Grandfather's name and father took them over in the late 70's early 80's and they have been his ever since.
He got SB tix from the lottery in both 85 and 96 (he didnt go in 85 as he had young kids and could not afford and he took my older brother in 96). We did not win in 01 but he bought a package and took me. We did not win in 03,04, 07 or last year and he took us all to 03,04, and 07 (us all being Me, Him, Mom, and 2 brothers). He was a little gun shy last year after the expensive loss in 07.
He just bought a new house so this year is doubtful unless something magical happens like winning the lottery or one outside chance we have through a friend of a friend who might be able to get face value seats for us from some inside NFL connection.

Someday maybe I can afford to repay him :D and hopefully we are good enough when that time comes.

My buddy has had the family STix since 1972. Over 40 years. No SB tix.

Look who was in Kraft's owners' box last Sunday and you'll know what happens to those tix.

Made plans to go to NOLA about 5 months ago, have a place to stay, I gambled.. not sure I won yet.

Staying with kin, and they claim they "know people".. we will see, cannot afford the $2500 they want for a tix, as much as I want to be there.. will never pay that much.

Talked to my sister in law with whom I am staying, she says that hotels are at a premium and very full .. she knows people who are renting out rooms..

Even if I do not get in, pretty confident that I will get that "rush" that turned me on to pro sports many moons ago.. been searching for it for about 50 years now.

In 1961, oh never mind.. go Pats.

FYI car rentals are tough that weekend, I got a good deal with enterprise in uptown, on Carrolltown I beleive, they will pick you up.. at the airport rentals are very pricey.

Got an economy car from Alamo reserved at the airport, $144 total for Saturday-Monday.

If anyone here does win the season ticket holder lottery and can't go I'll definitely buy the pair from you. The Superdome is literally a 10 minute drive from my house and if the Pats are there I'm not missing this game I would just rather not pay a through the nose if I don't have to.

$112-$131 out of Providence as well.

Return from Houston on Monday is $135-$152. I already got a room at the Hampton Inn in Thiboudaux, LA using points. Anyone interested in those flights care to split the rental car?

EDIT: Missed Tune's post. PM'ing.

LOL, you actually arent the first person here to ask me that but unfortunately I have family coming into town for Mardi Gras and the house is full. It's my wife's family though and they're Bears fans so at least I don't have to try and find a block of tickets should we win Sunday.

Is that the closest room you could get? Thiboudaux is more than an hour from the Superdome and not near the interstate.

Closest I could get for free and without cancellation penalties. I am sure there are rooms closer, but I need to save money for the big item: tickets. Houma is another option. Would that be better?

It's maybe 5-10 minutes closer but if you already booked the other room not a huge deal.
