The Patriots may be getting Joe Flacco at just the right time.

Last year, with very low expectations, Flacco came into Foxborough and played a very good game. This year, he's been pretty good in the playoffs. No one can really deny he has a great arm and throws an accurate ball.

But, I really like the lead-up to this game:

-Ray Lewis just called him "the General"
-The Baltimore media is ballwashing him like no time in his career, proclaiming that he deserves a giant contract
-It's obvious that Flacco's confidence is at a very high level

Now, let's remember a few more things about Joe:

-We're still waiting for his playoff meltdown, in which he throws four picks. The law of averages says it should happen any time now.
-He really isn't that good, and a large sample size confirms that
-Most of his game is built on a high-risk, high-reward long ball thrown into coverage
-The Ravens really should have lost that last game and got extremely lucky on that TD at the end of regulation
-Have you ever noticed that whenever the stock is high on Flacco, he immediately reverts to playing crappy again? I don't know if he can handle elite quarterback success... his career suggests he cannot.

Conclusion:

-I won't be surprised if we see Flacco come down to earth in a huge, huge way. I don't think his stock has ever been higher in his career, but we all know who he really is. How many times in the NFL do you see a guy skyrocket like this only to get overly confident and start believing that he can just keeping chucking the ball into deep coverage?

Their weak spot now is an older defense that has played their asses off and just traveled and will face Brady a QB who will run this at light speed. They truly left it all on the field in Denver. Hearing them talk after the game, none of them were talking about the game next week but about the game they just won which was their SB. They are tapped and will be out of wind by mid second quarter.

I like Flacco. He has one of the nicest long balls I have seen. An awesome arc that drops it right in. I am glad our D is playing with some swagger.

I hope they go after him more than week 3 when they hardly blitzed or touched him.

sooner or later he is going to make a bad throw throwing those hail marys 4 times a game...i think he throws a big pick this week

Flacco's deep balls only work to the right. Make him throw to the left... double-cover the right receiver... :)

Just don't let torry smith get behind you..keep him in front of you at all costs...give up a 30 yard catch..not a 55 yard TD

Flacco's propensity to throw in a clunker game was the only reason why I didn't go full steam ahead with the Baltimore pick before this game. I figured Baltimore would at least be able to somewhat slow Denver down, but wasn't really sure about Flacco.

As for a clunker game, this Sunday would be a prime time to do it. :D

A special teams TD would be nice..balts special teams are not in good shape after last week

It's very rare, if ever, that Flacco strings together more than 2 or 3 great performances. He's due for a stinker.

Last year's AFCC was the perfect scenario for him, everyone was doubting him after an awful game and he really had nowhere to go but up, against a poor secondary as well.

Flacco went to the Eli Manning "throw it up to the big guys and wait for either a completion or a flag" school of quarterbacking. For some reason, that has proven to be a quite successful approach for our opponents in recent years.

I predict McCourty has 2 picks on those stupid Hail Flaccos. Hey he almost had 2 playing corner against them in week 3, maybe he'll hold on to them since he'll be facing the QB this time!

I never realized that the Broncos pass defense was that bad (or maybe its J Del Rio) and that Champ Bailey needs to retire. The Denver defense was playing break dont bend. So sure Flacco lit Denver up and looked outstanding.

I agree, Flacco exceeded expectations last AFCC out playing Brady after stinking the filed up vs Houston the week prior. Flacco is due for a crappy game.

Whats the mood in Bmore?

BB will put safties deep to take away the bomb. Pita can potentially be the big factor since ravens will be able to move the ball in small chunks if they want to.

Regression to the mean coming up this Sunday

I was really impressed with Flacco for the first time Saturday. It wasn't just the long passes he threw the ball really well short and medium too. This game is going to be a dogfight. It will be a 3 point game either way. I like the Pats at home. Lets end RL's career.

Yes he reminds me of another long ball thrower named Eli, who he gets hot, wins; but more usually leads his team to 8-8 or 9-7 seasons.

I'm back home from college so I haven't been "in" Bmore lately, but from the Ravens boards ive glanced at and few people I've talked to they feel EXTREMELY confident. I'm not really sure why as they barely won with the help of refs in their house and their defense is significantly worse while our offense and defense is significantly better.

They are very ****y and I have no respect for that fan base, I went to the Pats Ravens game with a few buddies and was shoved and given titty twisters in the bathroom multiple time by men 30-40 years older than me. That fanbase is scum and disgusting, I hope they lose the same way as last year a missed field goal so they can cry into their Ray Lewis Jerseys before hanging them up for his retirement
