What impressed me more about Shane Vereen was his Blocking...he really squared up well text book blocking from a Third Down Back...thats marked improvents. Shane Vereen is begining to make a name for himself.

I need a gif of him juking Connor Barwin

I don't think you are talking about this...but it's all I could find in the highlights.

I always like the potential of Vereen. A guy who can legitimately play running back or split out wide on occasion. Love the versatility.

Imagine him in there with a 2 armed gronk :D

I wonder if the reason he did so well yesterday was that the Pats were already working on these plays with him and were hoping to use them in a later game as a surprise for their unprepared opponent, but the Gronk and Woody injuries forced them to go to this option sooner.

I think the only new Vereen specific play was the slant and go. The quick throw from the red zone could easily have been designed for Woodhead. The 8 yard out that he broke two tackles on could have gone to Woodhead as well.

I think that the Texans have great size and strength at linebacker, but struggle with coverage. NE was ready to attack that all afternoon.

I forgot about that, there was one pass play where he made a great block, and even nantz mentioned it. I think Vereen is just starting to get IT, he's figured out the NFL game. He was excellent in college, but sometimes it takes guys a few games (or years), to translate that to the NFL. I think we've seen Vereen finally is there.

Not quite ready to declare that because I highly doubt the Texans D focused on him too much out of all our guys in practice. Now that he showed what he can do, let's see him repeat it when teams give him more attention.

I dont know about you guys but Shane Vereen Catching the ball reminds me of the Bills Great RB Thurman Thomas many moons ago now. Vereen's playing style in the passing game puts aot of pressure on opposing Defenses. I love seeing RB's line up in the slot or outside in the passing game...pick your poison D.

And they say that Tom Brady can't throw the deep ball!! LOL.

Love seeing Vereen's breakout party. And the timing couldn't be any better. He made a huge impact in the Texans playoff game. And now Baltimore's DC has one more weapon to worry about.

Hate to lose Gronk, but we just discovered another talent on our roster ready to step it up! This Patriots offense will be even scarier in 2014 when Gronk, Ballard, and Demps make their return!! Talk about STACKED!

What I was most impressed with was his blocking, particularly flying across the pocket from right to left to cut block an untouched blitzing linebacker.

Also, a play that has yet to be mentioned was his 3rd and 2 toss play where Connor Barwin (?) had him dead to rights a yard or two behind the LOS and he jabs outside and cuts it in and is able to pick up 4 or 5. Talk about earning your yards on a 3rd down play. That was huge.

Whoever says that clearly never watched Brady with Moss. It's not that he can't throw the deep ball, it's that we don't have anyone that we can throw the deep ball to. We're not a vertical passing team. When we did have that, we set all kinds of records.

Deion Branch wasn't particularly impressed with Vereen's performance last week, because he said that Vereen makes those kind of plays in practice on a regular basis:

"This may sound crazy, but I wasn't impressed," said veteran wide receiver Deion Branch after Friday's practice. "This guy, we see this every day out on the practice field. It's just all about the opportunity that guys get. Not only him. [Stevan] Ridley, [Brandon] Bolden, give them the opportunity and we know that these guys can do it . . . But I've seen Vereen do those things at practice every day."

Branch on Vereen's performance: 'I wasn't impressed'

It's important to remember that this team is so deep, we only see the tip of the iceberg in games. The players and coaches get to see much more during the week. Guys like Vereen may have to wait for their opportunities, but that doesn't mean that they are necessarily "busts". The coaches will have a good assessment of whether the talent is there. The same applies to guys like Ras-I Dowling - he may or may not be a bust, but I'm guessing the coaching staff has a pretty good idea of what his abilities are, aside from his injury issues.

Who thought Vereen could be a deep threat?

A few of us.

"Mean" Shane Vereen Fan Club Year One :D

"Mean" Shane Vereen Fan Club, Year Two!! :D

"* Outstanding Diagnostic Skills, Processing Speed, and the Vision to see where the hole is going to be.

* Explosive Burst through the Hole and excellent Speed to the Edge.

* Phenomenal Fluidity and Lateral Agility, navigating the field, and violent Torsion, bursting outta breaks.

* And such a dangerous downfield threat that he was often Split Out Wide in California.

Shane Vereen: Amazing Talent and the Brains to apply it with deadly force.

Best of all: He is such a lethal weapon, running and receiving, that his presence on the field doesn't give the Defense the slightest clue what we have in mind...which makes all 11 of our players far more dangerous!!"
