Brandon Lloyd's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty

the entire ref crew had an obvious bias against the Pats from the start...that ref reacted like he was told pregame to flag anything that even remotely resembled an infraction against the Pats...when hit, well, THAT was a major 15 yarder...it's on film...the entire sporting world knows he made a turd call...if it was just a random event then, well, crap happens...but considering what that crew called all game long, that call was as ridiculous as the rest.

Definitely, one of many bad calls! Wasn't Troy Brown flagged for flipping the ball to the ref during the playoffs many years ago?

With that said, Lloyd was clearly pissed (and that pass was all Brady's fault), and threw it a bit too hard back at the ref. Lloyd is a bit of a hot head, it's not shocking.

Yeah, he never stops scowling. Just look at him!

to be honest, LLoyd threw it wayyyy too hard..most players flip it to the ref, LLoyd zipped it. Penalty?...I can certain;y see it

that call killed the drive. should've been just a delay of game penalty.

Yes. Lloyd flipped the ball with zip on it and the ref was not ready for it so I can see a DOG penalty here at the most. We also don't know if Lloyd said anything.

The key is, by escalating a possible delay of game penalty into USC the ref made it all about him, not the game.
Ref should be disciplined and out of any playoff games.

Did Lloyd get a fine for tossing the ball to the ref with butter-fingers?

If the NFL thought he really chucked the ball at an official, a fine (if not worse) would definitely come down. I haven't heard anything, so presumably it was even obvious to the league that there was no ill intent. Did I miss him getting fined or has there really been no word?

Haven't heard anything to this effect. Maybe someone with a brain and no flag in their pocket took a look at the tape and realized he just threw it back like he always does and the ref didn't see it coming.

Lloyd was not fined, and I did not expect him to be, seeing that this was his first unsportsmanlike conduct.

Also it was not a clear cut violation (as excess celebration would be, for instance). Maybe Lloyd gave back the ball a little too hard, but his actions otherwise did not suggest there was any intentional malevolence on his part.

It was a bs call originally. The official couldn't hold onto the ball so he threw a flag to save face.

It looked to me like he never saw it comming, of course they didn't see a lot of things that day.

But throwing the flag doesn't help him save face. If he just picked up the ball would anyone have noticed that he didn't make the catch?

It would be announced today, but I'd be awfully surprised.

Lloyd obviously was frustrated and threw it back to the ref harder than necessary. He deserved a penalty.

It was truly a hothead move by the official, which is pretty disturbing.

BB: "Hey Brandon, don't throw the ball so hard next time. Bonehead move, cost our team yards".

Brandon: "Won't happen again coach"

*Everybody moves on*

He FLIPPED it back to the ref and the ref wasn't ready. Plain and simple. And how do you know it was "harder than necessary"? What's he supposed to do, waste 10 seconds while the official gets his head out of his arse and into the game and paying attention? The Official is supposed to be paying attention to begin with. That's his job to get and SPOT the ball.

I basically saw a wrist flip with a little forearm. The ref is therefore a pansyass in my book and can't catch a ball. However had he been looking (like he should be) nobody would be having this conversation.

One of the worst calls I have seen. Let's hope the refs this Sunday are better than that or the Pats will have a tough time winning the game.
