Re: Kick Returner Available!

Funny how the Steelers are quick to release him but have no trouble making Ben and Harrison the cornerstones of their franchise. Even Santonio wasn't traded until they made full use of him and his contract was about to expire.

Re: Kick Returner Available!

It is not the first domestic violence arrest for Rainey, who just finished his rookie year with the Steelers. He was arrested Sept. 14, 2010, while at the University of Florida after sending a threatening text message to his on-again, off-again girlfriend that read: "Time to Die B----- u and ur???" Rainey was charged with felony aggravated stalking.

Not so sure about this one, especially given the prior history. The Steelers' day 3 picks from last year have had some major off field issues, between Rainey and Alameda Ta'amu.

Re: Kick Returner Available!

Hmmmm....maybe not for this guy. But I'm with you in spirit. I don't see the risk/benefit of having McCourty back there (invaluable to the secondary and nothing special on returns). Since he blew the IR-return on Shiancoe, we can't use Demps, who could really be dynamic. Vereen would still make more sense to me.

Not so sure!?!
Wouldn't touch the guy with a 10 foot Gostkowski

Got no problem with the Dillons, Randy Moss, Richard Shermans but this guy is poison

Thank BB for Demps, although I don't see why Ben Vereen isn't our KR

I'm still dumbfounded why we haven't seen this yet. Especially with how hard it is to get touches at RB with Ridley/Woodhead doing as good a job as they've done, you'd think BB would find a way to work Vereen in somewhere. Let's just hope he's been saving it for the postseason or something!

Though I think I've seen Slater back there more often than DMC lately which is a good sign, we cannot afford to lose DMC.

In hindsight, using the IR exemption on Shinacoe was a gross miscalculation.

Not even in hindsight, really. I was vocally perplexed (to put it generously) when it happened, and as I recall plenty of others were too.

I don't believe Demps would have been eligible. The IR exemption rules only applied to players designated as IR after September 4:

The Pats put Shiancoe on IR on September 5. Demps was placed on IR 6 days earlier, on August 31, so he wouldn't have been eligible for return anyway.

In addition, $1.2 million cap dollars down the drain for zero production in the New England Patriots pass offense.

New England Patriots Salary Cap 2012

Kellen Winslow Jr, former tight end with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was more productive in the pass offense for the one week or two weeks he was under contract with the New England Patriots.

Every year the HC forms a perverse love for a player who clearly in the fan base's mind does not freakin' belong on the 53. VS was that 2012 player.

2013 will be the same.

There was no urgent reason to put him on IR. They could have waited had they wanted him. He certainly could not have contributed less than SHiancoe.

Patfanken will throw another hissy fit if Tracy White is on the 2013 New England Patriots roster.

Re: Kick Returner Available!

  1. Bring him in
  2. Use him as a kick return man
  3. Cut him after the playoffs
  4. Watch people lose their minds
  5. Giggle like a schoolboy

To add to your evil plan

1a. Hire every (good) HC, OC and DC that has been recently fired or let go.
2a. Use them as special "coaching consultants" in the Superbowl :D

I didn't know he lived with the Pouncey brothers in high school.

So in particular they blocked for him.

Naturally, he put up ridiculous numbers.
