Bruschi's Breakdown on Patriots-Texans - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

"With coach Belichick, I think they need to be careful of overcoaching this week. They've gone into big games before and said, 'Fellas, this is what we did last time. Just forget about it and this is what we're going to do this time.' The idea is to bring so much of an adjustment level that it confuses the other side. But at this time of year, I don't think it's about confusion. I think that previous game means a lot. I think you watch that game, see what was successful, and how you succeeded and how you failed, and you translate that to this week. If it worked, keep it in the game-plan, and if it didn't, take it out. I don't think this is the time of year that you want to tinker too much. Sure, there will be some slight wrinkles and adjustments. I think you can make those on the sideline. But after scoring 42 points on them the last time, I don't know how many of those you really want to make.

I think one adjustment we know we'll all see is more 2TE, 2WR sets for the Patriots (only 37 in last game vs HOU).

If you are going to make these kind of statements Tedy, then you need to come in and be a LB coach for us.... already.

Its been three years. Time to come home. :)

That would be cool, but you really gotta love coaching to give up an ESPN gig ( a lot more money, a lot less work) to become a position coach.

The advantage the Pats have is that they can morph on offense to combat the likely adjustments Houston will have made. The Houston blitz will be replaced by flooding the secondary. The Pats will then go run heavy against the smaller D. This game has Woodhead written all over it. Double threat RB/receiver depending on what the D offers. The up tempo/catch the defense off guard that the Pats stressed early in the year may reappear. and of course now that Gronk and AHern are finally able to take the field together, this reinforces my belief that the Pats will be flying to the LOS and reading the D. I expect watt will have his head on a swivel instead of his ears pinned back.....yes.....a double cliche....a thing of beauty.
On D, kill Schaub. this is easy

I agree, especially the Texans abandoning the rush. They realize you just cant get TB fast enuff to beat him.

I think he's found his niche. He's too good at it and he seems to enjoy it. The money is probably good, and there is room for growth.

Not a bad gig if you can get it. He's quite articulate and a good film guy.

Of all of the QBs left in the tournament which one is the least likely to advance this weekend? None other than (John Bonham drum roll ........) Matt Schaub, Mr. Play Action doll who can't play any action when Arian Foster is limited.

No way is Vince and that front seven going to let Arian Foster send them golfing. No way Jose.

I was just thinking the same. I'd take Flacco over Schaub, Wilson over Schaub. Schaub plain choked in the 1st game over throwing wide open targets. Get in his face early so he soils himself

You've piqued my interest.

Of all the QBs left, I would rank them in the following order (from worst to best).

1. Colin Kaepernick
2. Matt Schaub
3. Russell Wilson
4. Matt Ryan
5. Joe Flacco
6. Peyton Manning
7. Aaron Rodgers
8. Tom Brady

We're missing a few key names from the elite 8, huh? (Drew Brees, Eli Manning).

The fact that Kaepernick, Flacco, Wilson, and Schaub are still in teh divisional round just goes to show how defensive oriented this year's elite eight are.

Ryan >> Flacco I don't see how anyone can seriously dispute this. And yes Ryan does not (yet, maybe never, we'll see) belong mentioned along with the Top 3

Now we're deep into reasonable dispute territory...
My man Wilson has shown steady improvement thru the season and played well managing the game, etc. in his rookie 1st playoff game

The only reason Kaepers is lowest here is simply not enough data on him. I think Kaeper is a keeper.
