I may have made a thread like this months ago, but I want to bring this up. Since we lost guys BJGE, and Dan Koppen to FA will we get any picks for them??

Koppen was cut. There is no compensatory pick for him. Mark Anderson and BJGE are other stories, but Lloyd and others may offset them.

Pats will not get any compensatory picks.

If thats the case then that sucks. We don't have many late round picks this year as it is.

So? It's not like they really need tons of draft picks this year.

I gotta have something to look forward to when day three comes around!! Also, our #2 corner was picked in 7th round last year so don't tell me theyre useless draft picks.

They're not useless in an absolute sense, but there are times where they're more valuable than others.

In this exact case, with the talent they have, a bunch of late draft picks would likely mean drafting for other teams.

The Pats have two 7th round picks (thier own and Tampa's). The Pats signed a bunch of UFAs, however only Lloyd and Gregory have had any significant playtime. On the other hand they did lose BJGE and mark Anderson, both of whom signed large contracts, so their is a chance the Pats might see a comp pick, but I doubt it.

The primary determinants of comp picks are number of qualified FAs signed/lost and average contract value, not playtime.

CTPatsfan is correct. The biggest determining factor is the number of qualified FA signed versus the number of qualified FAs lost.

To be qualified, the player's previous contract had to have ended and not been terminated prematurely. They also have to have been signed prior to the cutdowns and have to have survived the cutdowns.

The Pats signed a TON of qualified free agents this year, though only 2 will end up counting against the Pats. And that is Lloyd and Gregory.

Steven Gregory
Brandon Lloyd
Anthony Gonzalez (cut before camp)
Joseph Addai (cut prior to camp)
Joseph Fanene (cut in camp, contract is being challenged by Patriots)
Robert Gallery (retired in camp)
Spencer Larsen (IRed)
Tony Fiametta (Roster Exemption)
Will Allen (IRed)
Jabar Gaffney (cut)
Donte Stallworth (cut)
Deion Branch

The Pats only lost 2 qualified free agents in BJGE and Mark Anderson. Andre Carter would have counted if he'd signed with the Raiders prior to the cutdowns in training camp.

(I apologize in advance if I missed some of the guys)
