Because of the decision to bench Addai, Manning did end up "deserving" the award by process of elimination. Did Addai get hurt? Did the Colts offer any reason why he just disappeared? Seriously, it is suspicious unless he was out of gas or something. He was having a monster game and then he was nowhere to be found.

You still wearing the foil hat? Come on. The Colts only had a handful of possession after that point and they alternate backs every couple series and Dom was running pretty good. If they were really trying to determine the MVP instead of WIN the game, they wouldn't have let Rhodes run for over 100 yards after already having a TD. Any number of players could have gotten the MVP. It was likely given to Manning because he finally won the big one while efficiently managing the game against the touted Bears' D in crappy conditions.

I tend to agree it should have beeb Addai or Sanders. But it wouldn't have mattered if Addai rushed for 250 yards and scored 3 TDs. The media would have given it to Manning. Remember, they've been wanting desperately to crown THEIR king since he got into the league. The Patriots were the obstacle to him taking the throne which is why they hate the Pats and BB so much.

The only reason the Colts won is because of Manning. Let's not forget that his presence on the field changes everything. he's literally the best player on the Colts, and he performed well last night, which makes him the de facto MVP. Without the threat of Manning burning people downfield, Addai does not have that much wide open space to make those catches.

Mind you, I still haven't seen Peyton get rid of his hat-throwing, angry, Manning-whining, yell at teammates ways. until the last Patriots game, I hadn't ever seen him step up in the clutch with defenders pressuring him. So I'm still not sold on him. I think he had one great game so far in his playoff career, and it was against the Patriots. I have to admit I'm still a Peyton doubter even though he's clearly the most valuable player in the NFL right now. But I'm only doubting him because of what I perceive as a character flaw: the tendency to panic when the going gets really tough. Otherwise, the guy is uncanny at placing the ball into tight spots.

dungy said he tweaked his ankle and wasn't at full power or he would have been in their..just relaying what I heard, no way to know for 100% if its true...I thought they should have had co mvp's with addai and Rhodes...

Ain't exactly hard to dump it off on screens or underneath routes. Plus the Bears entire defensive-scheme was playing deep. And eys the Bears do have the more well-rounded team, but their offensive play-calling and quarterback single-handedly lost them that game.

Manning played a game much like Tom Brady, nothing fancy just doing what was needed to win the game - be that audible a run when the defense called for it - like the second half of the game.

He won based on playing better than his competition and not costing his team the game by trying to force a passing game when it was a wet, slippery ball -

FWIW both Gresh and Tanguay on FSNE last night thought it should have gone to either Addai or Rhodes, not Goober. I thought Addai should have been MVP. Sanders would have been a good choice also.

Manning and Elway have a lot in common in that they at times were overhyped and overrated and it took other people to finally get them their Vince. In Elway's case, it was Terrell Davis who was the key to those two Denver wins. That might also be the case here with Manning. There is no question that one of the biggest keys to a Colt win was their running back tandem of Addai and Rhodes, who together totalled almost 200 yards rushing combined.

There's no conspiracy here....PM was going to be the MVP if the colts won, period! I could have told you that a couple weeks ago. You don't think the media and NFL would finally get their win for the colts, and then not give their poster boy MVP do you? Absolutely. The Colts winning feels so anti-climactic doesn't it? It's like everyone knew it was predestined to happen. I'm sure for them it's like "we've been the best team in the league every year but had nothing to show for it til now".

There was a reason this was the first SB played in horrible weather - the big man was angry at the Colts!

Yeah, I'd much rather see our franchise quarterback diving headfirst at the ball with a bunch of very large men attempting to jump on it. I mean, after all, Jim Sorgi is just as good as Peyton, if not better.

Actually, if the clip continued to play, you would see that Peyton put himself in position between Urlacher and the endzone. I guess he had a decision to make, take a chance and go for the ball or try to stop a TD return. Manning didn't make the tackle, he got out of the way once a couple other guys grabbed Urlacher, but he was in position to make the stop if he needed to.
