Let me be the first to welcome Steve Belichick to the board! :rocker:

Why Thank you !!!

:D

Kidding aside, do you honestly think that highly of Sean Payton ?

Personally I'm a Packer, however, I've always had high regard for BB, - TB not as much (but that's for another thread another time) ;)

I'm sure that your thoughts on that would be very welcome on Packerfans.com.

The NEPs have no motivation like CAMERA-gate (correct attribution on this board please) right now to come clean. Until someone at the NFL offices gets bribed or squeezed by the media (assuming NEP are required to let nfl know - which I am not 100% sure about); we can plan on this thread or a similar one being in existence for the next 2 years. LOL.

They do have to turn them into the league: after all, that's how the NFL was able to overrule that clause in Sean Payton's contract.

Seems odd because if Belichick can keep his contract secret then so can Payton so who knows who is the highest paid? Also if they both had the clause things could get messy.

I presume such wording, if it exists at all, is along the lines of "the greater of $X million or [the highest salary as of a certain date + $Y]" to prevent any messiness.

I was wondering why I woke up with a fever

Ask Ernie Adams as I am convinced that he is the secret keeper

I wonder what they pay Ernie Adams- "Director of Football Research".

Considering he did trading and analyst work on Wall Street which could fetch anywhere from $100-$500k, I assume hes in that ballpark.

If BB stays after TB retires, then we can see how great BB really is.

Ridiculous post.

Belichick is the one who gave Brady the chance over a 100$ million dollar QB and helped him turn into the GOAT, his legacy is set whether he stays after Brady or not. He has nothing to prove.

Yeah, can't stand the Belichick (or Brady) is only great because of the other. Obviously they are a great coach and QB, with the combination off-the-charts.

Lombardi never won without Starr, and Walsh never won without Montana.

All the great coaches have had a franchise QB. If I am correct, Joe Gibbs is the only one with multiple wins with more than one starting QB. (Theismann, Williams, Rypien) Parcells did it with Simms and Hostetler, with Hostetler stepping in in mid December, but Simms was the starter throughout the season.

it sure would be fun to see if BB could do it with a different QB, not that I want to change and run Brady out of town.

There was no doubt in my mind that he's here for at least another 5 years. He LOVES it. There is not stress in the job for him. How many HC's do you see coaching up his players as much as he does during games. He's not just orchestrating the team, he's down in the trenches digging. Anyone who's been at a TC session knows what I mean. He's individually coaching players all over the field. BB might have earned the right to stand above it and just watch, but that's not him.

I can't think of another HC who fits the great Marv Levy comment (another guy who coached well into his 70's) "Where would you want to be, but right here, right NOW."

Tom Landry and Roger Staubach, Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw. Even though Shula won 2, he couldn't win with Dan "Bleepin" Marino!

Both BB and Kraft have very good reason for not making his contracts public, IMO.

I am sure that some of the other posters have more specific info about the details of his 2007 extension, but by all accts and purposes, his deal was/is set to run out soon.

I'm sure they don't. And what you're sharing is pure speculation (yours or others). The only definitive information we have are the rare statements such as Jonathan Kraft made this week or Bob Kraft made in 2007.

We just need to accept that we don't know what we don't know. Admittedly, that's never stopped people before... ;)

Does anyone know anything about BB's mysterious contract?

Belichick's contract was forged of steel and blood in 327 BC by the Greek god Poseidon. To keep the humans from learning of the existance of such a powerful contract, Poseidon cast it into the sea, where it remained for the next 2,328 years. Then, in the year 2000 AD, a local New England businessman pulled it from the depths of the ocean.

Some say it was with Poseidon's trident, others say it's with the Devil's pitchfork

I'd put Weeb Ewbank on the list of greats. He won with Unitas in the 50s and Namath in '68 beating Shula's Colts.

With that said, in 1972 Shula won playoff games with Griese and Morrall. Pretty amazing.
