I know KL has been battling a bit of a knee issue and because of that, Deaderick has been playing a bit more. I'm wondering now at this point if BB/MP see more value in playing Deaderick over Love straight-up. My assumption is that he has a bit more speed and agility than Love and is grading out the same vs the run.

Here are Reiss' comments.

It is now six straight weeks that Brandon Deaderick has played more snaps than former starter Kyle Love at defensive tackle. That’s been an overlooked change on the depth chart at times, with Deaderick showing up Sunday with a sack

If Love is healthy I would like to see him used more against run-based teams like the Texans or on first and second down. Deaderick generally creates a better push against the pass so against teams like the Broncos, I would give him the nod.

Agree. I think the better pass rush is key. Might need Kyle Love if we draw Baltimore. But, against most teams I'd prefer the better pass-rusher.

I've noticed the difference awhile ago. Deaderick is outplaying him in the run and pass game. I really noticed it when they would take love out and put cunningham/francis in for pass rush situations. Love has to be hurt because he is not as active as he was last year.

They have been tinkering with the line for awhile now. I noticed they even went to a 3-4 for portions of the 49er game. the olbs were hightower and ninko w/ spikes and mayo inside. And the de were jones and deaderick with wilfork at nose. It had mixed results.

For pure pass rush i wonder what a line of jones, cunningham, francis, scott would do.

We just might see it in the AFCCG (hoping...) considering DEN's running offense is more of a plodding attack and not explosive at the 2nd level, it doesn't scare anyone. I would not be suprised if you see something along those lines although Cunningham is the only one that has been rushing on the inside but with Deaderick having a quicker burst than Love on the inside, it really helps this defense. They used Francis a little rushing from the insider during pre-season so that might be something to keep an eye on...

Gotta wonder what this defensive line would've looked like had J. Fanene been healthy and not cut in training camp. Would have been interesting to see how that would have impacted Deadrick, Love, Cunningham. Would have been hard to keep them all.

I'd guess that Cunningham or Scott would have been cut.

It shows how much they really liked Francis coming out of camp. He was inactive the first 5 or 6 weeks and here he is as a potential contributor during the postseason.

Nah, Brace just would have been cut sooner. And yes, Deaderick is a better overall player than Love.

I'd take D'Isiah T. Billings-Clyde over both these chumps....

Good point but I'd like to think that BB kept Brace around because of the off chance he eventually showed consistency and not flashes of what he was capable of. In addition he was fatty insurance if either Wilfork or Love got injured. Since Deaderick has been stong vs the run and a nice touch of getting pressure on the inside, he made not only Brace expendable but cut into Love time on 1st and 2nd down.

My thought is that Deaderick is a player with huge upside coming out he was seen as a draft day steal. 6'4 305lbs runs a 4.95 forty.

The other reason I think we see more of Deaderick is that are defense is actually playing a 3-4 scheme in different formations and flip the resposibilites dependent on the opponents formation.

LOLB (Rush Linebacker) - Ninkovich
LDE - Deaderick
NT - Wilfork
RDE - Jones
