Mixed emotions with this news. On one hand I am glad to see him go, and although he is a meathead he has been a formidible foe over the years and a great NFL LB.

On the other hand, I would've rather have seen him make this decision after the Ravens were eliminated from the tournament, as my concern would be that it will certainly add some more motivation to their playoff run.

Personally, I think that's a good thing. Let them play 'inspired football for Lewis', and take it all out on the Broncos. Hopefully they'll eliminate those donkeys as I'm getting nauseous already, hearing of Manning as the second coming of ************.

I'll take Ravens at home over Broncos on the road any day.

You beat me to it. Good riddance, indeed. It's nauseating hearing him revered as "the best leader in the NFL" and treated like a God in Baltimore.

Now if only Peyton had the good sense to do likewise ...

I think they will blast the Colts, and not because of Ray Lewis or Joe Flacco. Ray Rice will put up 200+ yards vs. that soft run D.

I don't think that they will be able to score enough points to keep up with us or Denver in the next round though, since the Pats and Broncos will not allow Rice to go crazy.

I didn't mean "in" Houston, I meant having to play tougher teams in Houston and Denver.

I'd love to have him on my team, any day. Cromartie and Suggs I'd agree with.

Yeah, in fairness my mind isn't made up on Sherman, and it's hard to dislike what seems to be a good kid from a very well respected university, but I have more of a problem with those who actually go out of their way to talk smack on Brady/Belchick in a public setting, so that was my thought there.

I agree that I'd certainly love to have him on the team. The same would go for Browner or Chancellor too.

Guess this is the biggest surprise that everyone knew was coming. Can't blame him for trying to time it to rally his team for the post-season. Can't say I buy into the "well we don't want to play the Ravens now that they have this inspiration" Im hearing on the radio. (I'm more worried about how Rah Rah Caldwell's offense scored big in their win over the Giants when the G-Men had a lot to play for. Was that a noteworthy change? Or just a fired up team?)

Lewis is one of the best defensive players that I have seen since following the game, his "thuggish" behavior that he exhibited in the earlier years seems to have diminished recently.

He is boorish, loud and preachy.. but his intensity during games and his overall ability made for good viewing.

Able to separate early bad behavior, from more recent positive behavior..
