They wanted to sacrifice Cassel around the area earlier this year. He will most certainly go.

No, but there aren't many QB's in the draft this year that are worth a high pick. Personally, and this is just my opinion, but I don't see Matt Barkley working out in the NFL. Smith, IMO, is the best option available to them through free agency to begin winning games.

...and... His QB is already our QB. Not a rhetorical question...and I am not being a smartass, but who is he going to get? Draft some kid, and stake his career to some 20 year old? There's not a lot out there as far as free agents go. Although, if it was easy to find the next great QB, we'd all be GM's.

Theres already at least half a dozen teams already shopping for a GM and HC. Hunt waited too long to fire Herm and got stuck with Haley because pickings were slim.

They will screw up this 1st pick just watch.

1.) Gonzalez was likely to retire if he wasn't traded. That was actually a good move
2.) Jackson wasn't actually that bad a pick, given that draft. Go back and take a look at the top 12. Taken behind him:

Crabtree
Maybin
Moreno

I thought he should have taken Raji, but Jackson is still ahead of most of the players on that list.

Pretty bad overall, and yes Raji should've been the pick unless Pioli could've engineered

You can take culture change too far to fast, and coupled with alienating the local media and LOSING...recipe for disaster. If he stays now he's a shell of the executive of the year he was when BB was his HC (and had the final say on everything even though he always downplayed that and heaped credit on his VP of Player Personnel...). He never really had Cassel's back, either. Traded for him under the tag and signed him to a long term deal even as his idiot HC sewed the seeds of undercutting Cassel in the eyes of the team and fans and media.

Pioli has done an abysmall job handling his coaching hires. Other than that, it looks a lot worse than it is. Even with Cassell at QB there is .500 talent there with good coaching.

They were able to build Cassel back up in 2010, when Charles took pressure off and the O-line improved a little bit but, in 2011, with Charles and Moeaki down right off the bat, Cassel came under full on pressure again, and he cracked. Toss in his midseason injury, and you can see from his play that he's broken, possibly irreparably.

He developed McNab from day 1. McNab was replaced by veteran. What are you looking for? He developed a QB from drafted to starting for him for 11 years with 7 playoff berths and 6 probowls. Was he supposed to develop 2 at once?

Haley had nothing to do with it. He's a separate situation entirely. The decision to fix the o-line or not was on Pioli. Now, it's possible that Hunt gave him a low financial ceiling and Pioli covered for him, but the Chiefs were way under the cap and had plenty of money to go out and get quality linemen. He had the offseasons before 2009, 2010 and 2011 to fix the line. Instead, they stuck with the likes of Barry Richardson, and Cassel got David Carred.
