Say Bye - Patriots/49'ers Super Bowl

Thank God our team is only focused on the next game. :)

Football PLAYERS take it "one game at a time"...but football FANS don't need to dot that.

Whattaya think it's bad luck to discuss future scenarios?

There's no such thing as a jinx in case you didn't know.

If by "back" you mean he was running around with one arm, then I agree....but a two armed Gronk would sure be nice. I know he was protecting his arm, but man, he didn't instill much confidence in me that he's going to be his normal force in the playoffs.

Also, that big win over the Texans doesn't look nearly as impressive anymore.

Just my two cents.

Two more weeks to heal will be huge for Gronk. I expect he will be at 90% or better for the divisional round.

Thank God the NY Giants didn't even make the cut this year!!!!:rocker:

As good as San Fran and seattles defenses have played, I just don't know how you go against Rodgers.

I can't imagine a rookie qb winning 3 road games to make it to the superbowl either, no matter how good his defense has played.

I agree with this, I feel Green Bay is the best team in the NFC, and I'd be shocked not to see them in the Super Bowl. As far as our Pats, the only two AFC teams I fear is Denver and Indy. Denver is a complete team, with an excellent defense and an amazing offense (and QB). Indy scares me because they look like the team of destiny (like us in the 2002 SB and the Giants in 2008 SB & last year). One game at a time though, can't assume anything.

Seattle is 3-5 on the road. I will say, though, that all their losses have been close:

L, 20-16 at Ari
L, 19-13 at StL
L, 13-6 at SF
L, 28-24 at Det
L, 24-21 at Mia

So they've been within a touchdown in all their losses. So they're going to be a handful, no question about it.

Nothing's ever a give, but I see them likely beating Washington next week and then Atlanta the week after. That likely gets them to a rematch with either SF or Green Bay in the NFCCG.

I don't see Rodgers being able to put up enough points against that Niner defense in San Fran to win that game.
Niners are going to be able to move the ball and put up points on the GB defense.

Seattle is one team I don't wanna face.... Too much of a Giants feel to them.
I think they're a better team than the Giants except for how the Giants traveled well and the Hawks, errr, not yet.

But things change from week to week so who knows?

Nothing that happened during the regular season matters if the Pats line up against the Hawks. Both teams are different now. The one thing I like about the Pats' D in that game is the way they handle Marshawn Lynch. Or the way I would expect them to handle Lynch. Take away Lynch and Wilson's option antics get weaker. Well, they disappear. Har.

Not that I expect RGIII to run that gauntlet but if he did it's going to prove a frustrating offense to figure out. I don't think there's a book on it yet. You need a very smart front seven, and probably a very disciplined one as well. The Pats should far as well as anybody, no?

It's actually a MOST interesting NFC this year.

I feel happy for Petey and am curious to see how "for real" Russell Wilson is under the pressure of the big stage.

Lights, camera, action ...

It's interesting to look at the playoff picture in the context of quarterbacks. At the beginning of the season, the top 10 would have looked something like

Brady
Rodgers
Brees
Rothlisberger
Eli
Peyton

Drop off
Flacco
Ryan
Romo
Vick/newton

After that, you would have the top rookie qbs looking at the door, and a couple second year guys hoping to make the leap.

In hindsight, all the talk about this being strictly a QB run league may be a little overdone. Of the upper echelon, only Brady Rodgers and Peyton are there, and half the other guys in the top 10 will be way down the list next year.

Even green bay, with Rodgers with all his weapons are widely being discounted going into the playoffs. That is a huge move in thinking, given he is in the conversation for top qb in the game.

If Justin Smith isn't effective with the torn tricep and they can't generate pressure they won't beat GB.

I think Seattle has a real shot to beat both Washington and Atlanta. I think they match up well with both teams.

A GB vs Seattle NFCCG considering what went down with the replacement refs would be huge. I would imagine Seattle would play the disrespect card citing GB saying that was the only way they won and GB looking for payback.

A few things.

I think its silly when someone says they are "scared" of a team

I want the pats to play easiest possible team in the superbowl

I really hate when people say "Methinks"

broncos are still favorites to reach SB as they should be. We will have to show we are up to par in 2 weeks to go in there and get a win

Denver will be out in their first game. Look for a classic 4 INT manning show

why? They would have been embarrassed this year

Which is also what we thought last year and look what happened. There was NO way they would get through a conference that was DOMINATED by the Packers and Saints, right?

Seattle will not have their 12th man aka the best home crowd in football during these playoffs. The C-Hawks are a different team, a much weaker one on the road.
Even without RGIII being healthy I like the Skins at home to beat them.

broncos are as much favorite as the pats from AFC especially playing @home. NFC is open. No one likes ATL but it really is all on matchups and they could make it too.
49ers bye is huge becos they can get justin smith back.Without him their D has problems.

Justin Smith has a torn triceps. That is a "Wait till next year" type of injury.

When went down the Smith and Smith act went out the window. They were SF pass rush. Buh Bye.

I think the pats will beat Cinncy or Huston but after that theres a rather large speed bump in the road called Denver. As i read the posts on here i can't believe how dismissive people are about playing Denver in Denver. I think the pats have only won there twice in over thirty (30) years.

Lol. I'm out having a drink with the wife and the guy next to me is telling me how much better Forehead is compared to TB. "Brady is surrounded by talent and Manning has to work harder". Correct me if I'm wrong but I just dont see it that way. I give Pay-a-ton his due, but give me Brady any day. Of couse I'm a little biased.
