The Patriots are a tough team to play, and then it takes a few games to recover from playing against them.

THe Texans lost to thePatriots and have lost two games since then.
The 49ers had the best Defense, until they played the Patriots. Their fine Defense has collapsed since the second half of their Patriots game. They have been routed since then.

That is not to say the Patriots didn't feel the after effects of playing the Texans and 49ers. But they did manage to win last week. Their injury report lists almost half the team. But even so, everyone is still participating in practices. Slowly the Patriots are recovering. But neither of those two opponents have demonstrated they have recovered yet.

Who is the most "physical" team?:snob:

You know, we do manage to injure more than our fair share of players.

We are quite underrated in physicality.

Agree.... with the OL as the caveat. IM-biased-HO this team has everything in place to win it all (even without the bye, as much as I still want to see them get it). The Patriot offense has a potent running game, multiple receivers that are too good for single coverage and one of the best QBs of all time leading it. Putting up 30+ against anyone will happen IF the OL gives TFB time. But an OL that keeps allowing 4 pass rushers (or 5) to too easily pressure Brady? That is an early playoff exit waiting to happen.

I feel pretty confident in the 2012 Patriots ability to beat anyone when TFB is given sufficient protection. It will be damn shame to see this season go down in flames for lack of good OL play.

I just hate how they are going into the playoffs and how they have been playing lately...doesn't look good for some reason

Couldn't say it better, we will kick it into gear and go the distance, we are the team that will win it all, we just haven't lit the nfl on fire yet. With all our O starters playing and our D, we are no match. Time to show the pats are for real and are the team to worry about.

Any chance you'll be in the stands for these games? Your username-suggested skill set could prove helpful ;)

Actually, (although I don't have the numbers immediately available to back this supposition up) I believe this phenomenon has existed for a number of years, at least in the Belichik era.

Lots of times, especially after the Pats lose a game, I'll follow what happens to the team that beat them, and invariably, they lose. Not always, mind you, but often enough so you can make an accurate generalization about it.

Whether it's from a let-down after playing them, or physically recovering from being beaten up, I don't know, but it happens with fairly stunning regularity.

Just great!

There goes another 1st round pick once Goodell reads this

I would say teams generally have a let down after a big game. The 49ers played lights out and just could not bring it versus the hawks. The Pats did the same thing against the Texans and could not bring it versus the 49ers. Don't think it is much more difficult than that.

It doesn't look great rightnow, but most team who have won recent super bowls struggled in the last month.

most annoying phrase has to be " physical football "..:D

c'mon...nothing more than a crisp winter breeze

Beware of Foxboro winter weather too! 45 mph wind gusts? Holy Mutha of Scrod!!! :D

God forbid Gostkowski misses a field goal in that weather. We'll be reading about it around here as if it were a sign of the apocalypse.

The Ghost needs to go...there's these new kickers this year...we need new players...I'm so sick of the same old players...the secondary saucks because you saw it last week...that's it....we lose the first playoff game...I knew it...all new everything is what we need...

I see you point about being underrated ....but that is only to those who don't matter, the media. Our OL, when healthy, is physical. Our DL and linebackers are physical. I doubt that is underrated by the opposition. Teams know they better play punch in the mouth football when they play the Patriots.

The media is, understandably, going to fixate on Brady and Gronk and Welker and the rest of the passing extraordinaire group. That part of the Patriots kinda sticks out :D.

What does this have to do with the Pats? :D
