Bill Belichick’s back in total control.

Hooded One flexes muscles again | Boston Herald

Of the Patriots? No, everyone knows that’s for sure, but now the NFL has crumbled once again before the Hooded One’s stare and glare.

Belichick, according to a source in the Patriots film room, got Sunday’s game against the Dolphins flexed to 4:25 p.m. for one reason only — to watch what the Texans do in a 1 p.m. kickoff and know what his Pats will achieve in not throwing the Miami mashup, that being a coveted first-round bye. No drop kicks allowed if Houston chokes against the Colts.

I know he has alot of pull, but I never realized coaches has this kind of ability.

He doesn't. That writer is a hack hoping his article picks up steam nationally

Could it be that the NFL didn't want both teams risking injuries to it's star draws unless necessary? Both teams are playoff bound. If Houston wins the Pats basically have nothing to play for so they get the starters off the field after a series or two and let Mallett & Co get reps. If both teams started at the same time and Houston got into a tight game with Colts, both Texans and Pats would be playing starters much longer and risking unnessesary injuries. Makes sense from an NFL standpoint.

its hardly plausible now is it.

Oh God....

You DO realize the opening to the weekly picks column is always an SNL-type parody, don't you????

It's always tongue in cheek before getting to the game picks. You may be the only reader who actually took that seriously.

I'm always skeptical anytime I hear the league did something to favor the Patriots. I don't think Belichick and the Commish are best friends yet.

Curse you, Shmessy. I thought his ability to change the schedule was a prelude to his real influence - obtaining a first round bye for the Pats regardless of seeding. Now, I must watch the games this weekend with interest.:)

On a serious note, as I assume this mocks the statement that Kraft wanted the game moved, do you happen to know which writer started that foolishness?

LOL - -seriously? Is that what it was from? I was listening to Smerlas and DeOssie on the way in to work (98.5 was doing hockey) and Fred was reading this as a real item. So I guess that's two readers who took it seriously. It did seem off when he said the source was listed as "someone from the Patriots film room."

If there was any validity to somebody in the Patriots organization having the clout at the league level to get this done for the benefit of the team it would clearly be Kraft not BB.

Odd, too, is the line about the commish saying, "who's Don Shula?" You'd think that would tell everyone it was a joke but guess not.

I think was a actually a great opening. Shame on people for not getting the joke.

I am assuming you didn't read it fully.

Chad Finn, page c7 today's Globe clears it up. No conspiracy.

BB doesn't need pull...

Just because Bobby heads up the NFL's Television Committee? :D

Yes, it's satire. The Humble One, he ain't.

Amazing the first reaction to provocative articles for so many folks is: the writer's a hack, idiot, moron, etc. These folks have been well trained to reflexively despise 'the media.' The content of the piece is meaningless compared to an opportunity to show how right they are. I wonder when they'll realize they're being manipulated?

BB: This is not the seed we're looking for.
(NFL reps: "This is not the seed they're looking for..."
BB: We'll take the #2 seed.
(NFL Reps: "They'll take the number 2 seed.)

BB: And we'll defer to kick off the first half, and receive after half time, too.
