Am I missing something??? He backed up Tom Fricking Brady for 4 years and no one gives him a shot? He looked great in preseason.

It boggles my mind why some of the teams with poor QBs didn't give him a chance....Charlie friggin' Batch?????

I realize it's the Jest, but if they just admitted they efffed up with buttfumble and passed on teabag, Hoyer would have been at min. a solid backup with a wealth of knowledge on all things Pats and how to do things right.

Oh, I get it, he's not 6'6" with a cannon arm.

It's mostly a lack of familiarity with the system and lack of experience (including bad) situation. Better the jag you know who was with you in camp or ran a similar system for someone else than some guy who just got cut (from a team that runs a scheme unlike most everyone else who has never started).

I decided a long time ago there are probably as many potentially viable QB's who come out of college never to get a shot as there are QB's who make it. Mostly because coaches and coordinators become enamored of a handful of guys every season and by the time most of them bust guys who might have actually developed are selling insurance or working for investment banks. Then the busts get a second shot as a backup based on they started once and might be misunderstood...

Compared to other positions where everyone needs a couple of guys only 3-5 QB's that get drafted every year ever get anything approaching a clear shot at hanging around let alone starting in the NFL. They should really allow teams to carry a developmental QB on the PS over and above the 8 player limit. I know it was talked about a while ago, I think when NFLE went belly up, because of the dearth of quality starters being developed due to roster limitations.

I'd love Hoyer to start like this...
Ave Cardinali!
Morituri te salutamus!

I'm still waiting for this 2nd round pick people were talking about.

And he would be doing it with the worst offense in the league on the road, while Brady failed with the best offense at home

But without its best offensive weapon, and in a steady rain.

+GRONK, –rain = win.

What an opportunity for Hoyer. If he can play good for one game, hopefuly the Cards think twice about drafting Geno Smith or Matt Barkley, yuck!

Me too! When did he sign with the Cardinals? Obviously I missed it!
The Steelers released him when Roethlisberger was ready to come back.
Arizona claimed him off waivers.

The Cardinals might have claimed him simply hoping Brady taught him how to avoid IR every time he's hit. No QB in Arizona seems to have figured that out yet.

they're also missing that pretty key ingredient called "get fitz the ball"

He'll at least be an improvement over the garbage that Arizona has been trotting out there recently, though you may not know it due to the fact that the 49ers will probably be coming after him with the ferocity of a Leopard.

A beat writer in Arizona tweeted that Hoyer will be their 7th QB to play in 3 years.

I hope he can make the most of this chance.

He's at least the FOURTH this season, right?

THat's crazy in itself.

Funny...i said during the Cardinals - Jets game that how the hell is a guy like Ryan Lindley a starter before Brian Hoyer who was a backup for the steelers at the time i think.

Hope it goes well for him.

It probably won't.

Understatement of the century but.

Thats not a great cardinals o-line.

Against the 49ers.

Best of luck Brian.

Cardinals are a weird team, but there is potential. I would take Hoyer and the points thank you very much.

If Someone told me that Larry Fitzgerald would have less yards than Brandon Lloyd,I would have made them a resident of an insane asylum.

If someone said Lloyd would of had a Moss-like 2007 season would you of also made them a resident of the said insane asylum?

Every once in a while, a QB makes his first start and plays much better than expected. I'm hoping this Sunday, Hoyer is one of them. :rocker:

Hoyer is better value than Kolb. Andy Reid knew how to sell high.
