I am sorry if this is a silly question, but quite frankly I am confused . Right now Hou and Den are at 12-3 and Pats are at 11-4 so if either Hou or Den (lets say Hou) loses a game and we win then we would have a record of 12-4 same like Hou
so Den would be 1 seed 13-3
Pats would be 2 seed 12-4
Hou would be 3 seed 12-4 (since we beat them)

Am i right??

The reason i am confused is i heard on ESPN that both HOU and DEN need to lose for the Pats to secure a bye.............

yes you are right..we hold tie breaker over denver and houston..so if 1 loses and we win..we are ahead of them and have a bye

See this is what i thought, thanks for clarifying that . I dont know why Trey Wingo and others on ESPN keep saying that both DEN and HOU need to lose for use to secure a bye

maybe they meant to say #1 seed

agree with what is stated above. also wanted to add that if the pats win (12-4), broncos lose (12-4) and texans lose (12-4), all 3 teams would have the same record but in a three way tie the tiebreaker is the team with the best conference record (pats).

That is not why the Pats would win the tiebreak. Pats would actually win it on the 1st tiebreaker. They went 2-0 against them and the others went 1-1 and 0-2

among the 3,
Pats went 2-0
Houston 1-1
Denver 0-2, losing both to us and to the Texans

First 3 way tie breaker is head to head if one team has beaten both of the others.

Because they are moronic idiots, and anyone who listens to them not only doesn't learn anything but actually comes away dumber?

So true

What other profession pays well, is light work, and you don't have to have anything resembling superior knowhow in your field (politics excepted)?

P.S. thanks cavtroop for the summary!

I've noticed a lot of commentators saying 'bye' when they mean 'Home Field Advantage and a bye.'

This place leads the league in extraneous question marks in thread titles.

I know it's a VERY long shot.... but imagine the Broncos and the Texans both lose.... Aside from the fact we get the number 1, but the donkeys are now #3, and will need to go on a roadtrip to Foxboro.... Manning's favorite place in January :D

If the OL can play well against the Miami front seven, and we win of course, and as long as either the Texans or Broncos lose and we get the #2 seed, I'll be happy.

If both Denver and Houston lose, NE secures the # 1 seed - home field and bye.

If either Denver or Houston loses NE gets the # 2 seed - bye
