Some I like, some I don't and some are sarcastic

24. New England (from Seattle)- Anthony Spencer, DE/LB, Purdue
28. New England (12-4)- Brandon Meriweather, CB/FS, Miami-Fl
**********************************************

24. New England Patriots - Reggie Nelson, S Florida
The Patriots are extremly thin at LB due to age and injury and they also
need CB help although they can address that need with their many
other draft picks (star-in-the-making A. Samuel only cost them a fourth-rounder).
However, R. Harrison is at the end of his career and coincidently
Nelson is the best available player. He will add an instant spark to a depleted secondary.
he prototypical CB at 6'1" 200 lbs. with speed and coverage skills to go with it,
so he can help fill that gaping hole in the Saints' secondary.

28. New England Patriots - Sidney Rice, WR South Carolina
Caldwell dropping passes throughout the season and post-season may have
cost the Patriots another Super Bowl trip. Rice may not be ready to start from
day 1, but he is an amazing physical talent and by season's end will develop into their best receiver, just in time for the playoffs.
*********************************************************

24.
New England Patriots McCauley, Marcus, CB Fresno State
The Patriots under Belicik have always had good CBs, starting with Law
and now Samuels. Unfortunately ,Law became a FA and left for the Jets,
could Samuels do the same. Many teams would love to land a player like
Samuels and plenty have the money to do it. We all know Pats will not cough up the maximum amount of money like Deion Branch. So what's beliciks solution? Draft another outstanding CB. McCauley is a ball hawk and a great tackler. Side Note: 2nd String CB Randall Gay is also a FA.

28.
New England Patriots
***Brandon Siler, O/ILB, FLordia*** The Patriots LBs are againg. Bruschis name did not come up once in the 2nd half of the Colt game. They need to bring in young Siler he shows alot of potential. He is also one of the greatest collge leaders I have ever seen. The Patriots are all about leaders as they probably have 10 of them. Belicik loves players like this. He will give up an arm for Siler
****************************************************

24 New England Patriots: Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
An insurance policy just in case Asante Samuel leaves via free agency.
Aaron Ross has seen his draft stock rise thanks to a great Senior Bowl week

28 New England Patriots: Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU
I guess the Patriots got what they deserve. If they would have just paid
Deion Branch his money, Reche Caldwell wouldn't have been on the
field that often
*******************************************************
24 New England (from Sea) - Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
NE hopes they get just a portion of what they landed with the
last Michigan corner they drafted.

28New England - Buster Davis, LB, Florida St.
Height is a concern, but can really clog running lanes and find the football.

*********************************************

24 NE (via Sea) Patrick Willis ILB MS CB, ILB, S

28 NE Daymeion Hughes CB Cal CB, ILB, S

Scratch Sidney Rice off the board. There's no way we're taking another WR who's not ready in the early rounds.

I like Siler from Florida, I think he could move to the inside LB

Today's mock ...Anthony Gonzalez ??? I hope not

24. New England(from Seattle): Marcus McCauley CB Fresno State. A really raw prospect from a Belichek disciple (Hill). If they can keep Hobbs and get Gay back, McCauley will get to sit and learn from one of the greatest defensive staffs out in the league. A boom/bust prospect.

28. New England: Anthony Gonzalez WR OSU. A really polished WR who can play either Flanker or split end. Fills a major need for the Pats.

As usual, national mocks are clueless with comments like the one about Caldwell somehow costing us a Super Bowl appearance. That guy helped solidify that receiving corps. I don't know what we would've done without him. Idiots.

bottom line...i would cry if hte pats took sidney rice or gonzalez...NO 1st round WR please! although i wouldnt be dissapointed with Bowe to be honest...dido with johnson Jarratt and Ginn (NO GONNA HAPPEN)...
keep this in mind though...the 1st round is a place to draft players that are going to be ready to peform in the 1st few years...drafting a player that needs 3+ years to develop isnt going to cut it financially because we are paying big bucks for these guys.. thats why i think BB/SP have drafted guys (DT,DE,RB,OL) in the first round recently...they are ready to play pretty much day 1...they dont need to memorize as many schemes or anything, pretty much all of them just run as fast and hard as they can go for as long as they can (you know what i mean) while CB,S,LB,QB requires more learning..just a thought

excuse me, RB's and OL don't need to memorize as many schemes - what's the Patriots Offensive playbook at - over 400 plays

hahahaahahah leon hall falling to 24.....hahahaahah

maybe if 10-15 prospects dramatically increase their draft stock by the combine...

gonzalez, a projected 3rd rounder....taken in the 1st round.....

just shows how clueless this guy is, whoever made this mock should actually do some homework, instead of just picking out names they heard over the college season....yeah gonzalez is good, but not 1st round good, not 2nd round good, will never be "taken by NE in the 1st round good"

Hahahaha Vince Wilfork falling to 21........you never know.

SOMEONE is going to drop, take that to the bank.

This happens every year. We pick #24, you would think only 23 guys could be gone. But there'll be about 35 who will NEVER be there at #24.

ya i was entirely shocked
i mean my last mock had us taking wilfork with a trade up that yr

A lot of these have us taking a WR. I don't believe BB will do this 2 years in a row with our defensvie needs. Here's the today's new Mocks for what they are worth.

24 NE (via Sea) Patrick Willis ILB MS
28 NE Daymeion Hughes CB Cal

24. (from Seattle) Sidney Rice WR, South Carolina
28. Anthony Spencer OLB/DE Purdue

24. New England – DB Michael Griffin – Texas
28. New England – WR Dwayne Bowe – LSU

#24 :patriots*:Michael Griffin/S/6-0 205/Texas
#28 :patriots:Marcus McCauley/CB/6-1 205/Fresno State

24 (via Seattle) WR - Dwayne Bowe 6-2, 220 LSU
28 FS - Brandon Meriweather 6-0, 190 Miami

24 New England WR - *Sidney Rice 6-3, 200 - South Carolina
28 New England Patriots DE/OLB - Lamarr Woodley 6-2, 270 - Michigan

24 WR - Dwayne Bowe 6-2, 220 LSU
28 Lawrence Timmons - LB - Florida St

two new mocks out today (at least):

GBN Draft Report:
at 24: Robert Meachem WR Tenn
at 28: Chris Houston CB Arkansas
2nd round: David Harris LB Michigan

NFL Draft Countdown:
at 24: Dwayne Bowe WR LSU
at 28: Marcus McCauley CB Fresno St
2nd round: David Harris LB Michigan

Rob Rang of NFLDraft Scout has the Pats taking

#24: Amobi Okoye
#28 Anthony Spencer

In his mock, Willis, Merriweather, and Griffin are still on the board at both 24 and 28.

What is intriguing about Okoye is that he's 19. Meaning that he may still have a growth spurt left in him. However, I just don't see the Pats spending a pick on a D-lineman who sits on the bench. Though Okoye could free up one roster spot by eliminating both Hill and LeKevan Smith.

I queston Rang's reasoning, though, because he has the Pats taking Okoye to keep him away from the Jets. I just don't see that happening.

Me neither. By most accounts Okoye will be taken in the 5-15 range. Unless there's dissatisfaction with Wilfork's play, I don't see why you'd trade up to get Okoye. I don't thik Okoye fits in as a NT in our system either. His measurables are 6-1", 317 lbs. which are generous numbers.

Were those the measurables from the Senior Bowl?

Also, beng that he is 19, he may still have a growth spurt in him. I think he could fit into the Pats system if he can hold the point of attack by getting better leverage on the center.

At the Senior Bowl he weighed in at 6'2", 287 lbs. Those other numbers are from his official biography at the Louisville Cardinals website.
