Last time i felt good after a loss !

I never feel good after a loss but there was one other time only ,,,,yep that loss against the same Division Team as the San Fran. the 2001 Rams. We all know what happened that year, and now after this loss i feel the same good i felt that year. Strange isn't it ? Just like the 2001 Rams the 49ers are now favorites for the SB after their game against us. I just can't remember though if we finished as the 3rd or 4th seed that year ! So yes i feel good after this game , and really hope we play them in the SB. Just wanted to know how many of you feel this good feeling even though we just couldn't win the game. Cheers.

I felt good that they didn't pack it in when they were down 21-3 like the Texans did the week before...said alot about the intestinal fortitude of this team. It felt good that the comeback was a pure comeback against a powerhouse D and was not aided by turnovers or a lineman's butt and that they were extended drives......what I didn't feel good about was the first half and that the fact was they should have been down 50-3

Good isn't the word I'd use, but I will say that this loss didn't shake my confidence one bit. Still think we're the team to beat in the AFC. BTW, we were the 2nd seed in 2001 (we hosted OAK in the snow bowl in the Divisional Round and beat PIT at PIT in the AFCC game).

Once every seven years the NFL schedules Patriots @ Steelers on Halloween weekend and the Pats turn into a pumpkin. Other than that they've owned them.

We were the 2nd seed that year...Pittsburgh was #1. In 2001 it was the old 3 division line up. The top two division winners got he bye (same as today). Oakland was the only division winner that played in the wild card round with the three wild cards.

When Oakland beat the Jets in Oakland, they earned the right to come to Foxboro for the famous Snow Bowl. Our victory there led us to beat the Steelers at Heinz in the AFC Championship (nice time to remind any steeler fan that with your two superbowl wins last decade, you never beat us in the playoffs). Of course it was then the one short week to New Orleans to get that first one by beating the "greatest show on turf"

As soon as I read your caption, I just knew you were going to be talking about the ram game and you do make a very good point - if anyone felt going into the game that NE could not beat SF has to feel otherwise today.

honestly..that would be a bad match up for the pats...as in playing a physical team before going to denver..they are better than pitt..but don't want to play them at all

The Pats showed gumption and skill in putting those 28 straight points up. Both sides of the ball had to play well to do that and they did.

Losing could be a good kick in the pants as the Pats were getting blown way the hell up by the media after the Texans game and they could have started to get too comfortable. This loss will be something they can point to and think about during the January and February games.

But one little fact keeps me from feeling too good about this one: When the Niners re-dialed up the defensive pressure after they went ahead 38-31, the offense did not respond and match them.

Another fact that keeps me from being too happy about this: The let down on the kick coverage after the Woodhead tying TD was SHOCKING. Pats teams just don't do that kind of crap.

So bottom line, I agree with the premise of the thread. But not totally.

It's a lot easier to send guys after the QB when the opposition has expended an enormous amount of energy in the catch up effort. The Patriots were tired. Decision making goes out the door when fatigued.

Came away feeling like almost no lead is to big to overcome even against a top defense. That stuff seemed only mildly possible against teams like the Chargers and Bills but against SF I had my doubts. Never seen anything like that before, this teams friggin awesome to root for.

The best part of this post is the FACT that the Squeelers never went through Patriots for their SB wins...most of the time they can't get bye us...The Patriots on the other hand...have beaten The Squeelers numerous times on the way to championships....and inaugural games at stadiums!.

The bye was so close and we let it slip away. That is what bugs me most about this last game. If we had already had the bye locked up, I wouldn't have been as upset about the loss!

Not the same thing at all. That Rams game merely showed the Patriots were a good team, or might be one, something that had been in doubt.

The SF game reconfirmed that the Pats are an elite team, but that's not something that was in much doubt in any case.

To reach the Super Bowl the Pats will probably have to beat a fellow elite team in Denver, as well as winning two other playoff games, one of which will likely be on the road vs. the very good Houston. So be it.
