What do you think about the idea. Brady has atleast 4 good years in him and next years QB class looks atrocious compared to the last years (the last 2 years have been extremely good) and many teams still need a QB.

Jacksonville Jaguars
New York Jets
Arizona Cardinals
Kansas City Chiefs

are in dire need right now with

Buffalo Bills
San Diego Chargers
Oakland Raiders

needing to develop a QB.

With so many teams at need for QBs what do you think could we see him leave in the off season? I think a high 2nd rounder could very well seal the deal. Next year is his 3rd year as a Pro and I believe he sees that his chances starting for the Pats is rather slim (as high as Brady getting injured for a long period)

I like the idea, but I think you're dreaming if you believe we're going to get a high second rounder for him...

Don't see him leaving. He's on a cap friendly contract. We have no immediate need on our team besides WR, maybe OL. But we can take care of that with our current picks. I don't think anyone will give us a 2nd for him but stranger things have happened.

Lousy idea ... if Brady goes down then we need him.

We can keep him around an extra year by throwing money at him now.

The idea has merit. Tebow and Cassel should be available next year, so QBs that have worked with McDaniels could be brought in. You can take Kansas City off of your list though. I don't see any way that team's front office can sell another New England QB to the fan base.

Sanchez is pretty much available too. lol.

The patriots need a backup QB for 2013 and 2014. With Mallett, Belichick was comfortable going without a 3rd QB, gaining a roster spot. If anything, we should consider extending Mallett if that is possible.

After what the Eagles got for Kolb I think anything is possible. He was high on many draft boards and fell because of "charakter issues". We need a back up QB of course but the way Brady is playing there simply isn't a QB that really could be his back up. Do you really think a back up could lead this team to a SB? Not that I have anything against Mallett but if we could get a good pick for him I'd seriously consider it.

the only way i see this happening is if we are getting a number one receiver in return.

Mallet for bowe/fitzgerald etc.

Teams that need a QB but have a stud wr.

Unless of course McDaniels gets another HC position and he trades a number 1 for mallet.

Not that I'm implying lightning strikes twice, but if there is any team's board to NOT say this on, it would be the Pats.

To get anything for Mallet he has to play one of these last two games and come in and look like a quality starter. In the preseason and his limited chances this year he hasn't done that. Shiancoe screwed him on that pick against Houston but still.

I'm with Deus. This wouldn't normally interest me too much, but the inevitable availability of Cassel makes this awfully intriguing.

I don't know who'is running the show in Oakland these days but they gave up like two firsts for Carson Palmer and took Tyrelle Pryor in the 2nd or 3rd round of the Supplemental Draft. Using that logic they may give up two or three firsts for Mallet. If only he had a great 40-time they could probably get even more!

Matt Cassel after an 11-5 season wasn't worth a 2nd rounder without Mike Vrabel tossed in.

Mallett's value is considerably lower, imo. If someone offered a #2 we would probably be silly to not go after it but unless we start putting him in the 3rd quarter of blowouts he won't be getting any playing time and won't have much value. Don't even post another scenario where he might get playing time. I'll fight you.

Young backups who want to hang on to that job telegraph lack of drive. They almost never get thrown extra money to keep them around. The Colts did it once with one of Manning's and he got hurt and cut shortly thereafter. Mallett will want to be a UFA to open up his options.

Before any team acquires the Sanchize they will need to check and see if their offensive linesmen's butts can handle the likely collisions.

Would work if Al Davis hadn't assumed room temp.

Cassel and Hoyer (Tebow is never here as a backup if at all) as he hasn't had a shot anywhere yet and isn't likely to hang around in AZ unless he's promised one - and Wisenhut may not even survive.

That was before current management took over. They were stuck with certain options and they have played out the string.
