If I were him, and my team committed 4 turnovers in a very winnable game, in our house I would be labeled Grumpelstiltskin also...

As a matter of fact have been called similar things by people close to me since about midnight on Sunday...

Concur. I'd have called out the jackwagons whose show he was on.

The team is probably going to be paying for it this week. Laps and gassers to death at the end of practice... fully padded of course.

I think it's great that he's cranky, although I'll be the first guy to ***** when and if they are eliminated, and he reads the same script.

We just didn't make enough plays in all three phases of the game

Does the collective bargaining agreement allow this??

Have been wondering if there was a "Newtown Effect" on both the Pats and Giants last week. Started thinking about is after I heard Brady yesterday morning, he started the game off crapily.. but got better. Brand new dad Hernandez dropped a few..

Many of these players have kids about the same age.. as mentally disciplined as they are, difficult to block out.

I don't think that there's anything in the CBO that doesn't allow cranked up practices. As for the Newtown theory, it's an interesting one. But the Niners brought a lot of exotic blitz packages to the table with man coverage schemes over the top and excellent execution in all phases. I don't think that Newtown was in the team's mind once the ball was snapped and they started getting hit. But that's just me...

I hope he's praising them some in private.

I'm as disappointed in the loss as anyone, but I've seldom been prouder of them for the heart they showed.

I thought about the Newtown theory as well....I read an article in which Bob Kraft talked about how many players were talking about it Friday. I briefly wondered if it would affect focus, since how could it not? But then I figured it would be same for the 49er players, since it has affected people all around the country and the world. But the Patriots are close to the area, same with Giants and Jets. The Giants also played really poorly and couldn't manage to rebound a bit as we did. I read that one of the little victims was a huge Victor Cruz fan and that Cruz was driving over to Newtown with a bunch of stuff from the Giants locker room for the family. I can't help but think it may have had an effect when I read stuff like that. With the Jets level of play in general, it's hard to tell either way, though.

Wouldn't want to be the Jags this week. (Well, OK, any week; but especially this week).

I think the Newtown tragedy is influencing people in the NE people more. I live in NC, and everyone is very sad about it, but when I talked to my family up in Amesbury, they were clearly much more shell-shocked than me. After all, it is a typical small New England town, much like Amesbury.

I do not think that is a crazy theory at all.

I think the Newtown effect is very real. Young people in their 20s, with or without kids, have been hit hard by this where I work. It is a tragedy of unimaginable evil - less understandable than Columbine, Oklahoma City or Waco before it. These young men with families and new mothers are not immune, especially when they, too, have none of the answers those around them are seeking.
