First couple of weeks he stood out among all defensive rookies, making plays and getting to the QB .........Then came the injury.

I think the award at this time has to go to Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner ...Over 100 tackles,3 INTS,Wagner and Irvin have been fine additions to a defense that is nearly as good as the 49ers.

Its not a big deal to us,but I was hoping for Jones to get the award, its obviously an honor to a rookie, but I think his injury has affected his play a bit,his ankle.seems to have slowed him down a tad.

He lost that award a long time ago. Could be any of Wagner, Kuechly, or Hayward.

That award has been long gone for a while now.

Wagner is on a Super Bowl contender, the others are not......that makes it an easy decision IMO

You may want to modify your playoff prediction signature, its a bit off ;)

Kuechly is the favorite, hands down. Wagner is the #2 guy.

L.Kuechly is leading the entire NFL in tackles in his rookie year, at least as of last week anyway.

Chandler Jones has not been relevant to this conversation for at least a month, if not 6 weeks or so.

This is the problem with the rookie of the year awards. You are only eligible for one season, and you have to be amazing to win if you're not healthy the whole season. Jones got hurt and missed some games, meaning he lost any realistic chance of winning then. It didn't help that he returned at what seems to be less than 100%.

The DROY award has been long gone for Jones.

I can't call a rookie with 6 sacks and 3 FF a dissappointment, but I thought he was going to be a beast this year.

He was on pace for double-digit sacks when he got hurt. For the Pats, I'd say that's pretty close to being a beast.

oh he lost it a while ago...been sort of nowhere as of late

True, and all that matters is if he is a beast in the playoffs anyway. :)

Agree with this 100%. Kuechly has been a tackling machine sine week 1. Jones went MIA even before his injury, probably hit his rookie wall. All in all, Jones and Hightower have had successful rookie seasons, both should be proud. 6 Sacks by a rookie DE plus 4 forced fumbles is nothing to sneeze at. Watt and JPP both had less as rookies. Hopefully and offseason of working on getting bigger, and working on his moves, will help him to that elite level. Massive workout regime to add 20 pounds of muscle, and an offseason of watching film of Aldon Smith, Watt and JPP.

Somehow, he needs to increase his explosiveness too. He's not the fastest DE I've seen.

I dunno if it's his ankle or not, but somehow his burst got even worse.

his ankle is obviously still bothering him. he has been a shadow of his former self since coming back.

Any DROY aspirations needed him to play a full 16 games anyway

Luke Kuechly, Bobby Wagner and Casey Heyward in that order. No one else.

I somehow haven't seen the Panthers or Kuechly at all(probably because they stink) but i've been impressed by Wagner.

Too bad Jones. He had a comfortable lead before he got hurt and right now it looks like he still has problems.

I don't care about this award. I'm fine when Chandler get 2 sacks and qb pressures in the SB!
