I want Indy to slaughter the NFC pretender.

I would have wanted the same if San Diego or Balimore (or KC or the jets) were in the Super Bowl. I want the second best QB of our era, perhaps in the history of the league to succeed. I would like Indy to be the #1 team this year, and for us to understand that we were very, very close to that standard, a first down or two away. Did we have the #1 defense, the #2 or the #3? I will know that we were in a group if Indy wins. If not, then Chicago clearly had the best defense.

When I win, I want to beat the best. Sure, a win is a win, but when given a choice, I would rather beat the best. I will always have respect for the teams I play, sometimes calling them even better than they are, as bb does. After all we had the best team in history a couple of years ago (or #2 or #3) precisely because we beat so many good teams.

I want all the top AFC's teams to beat up on the sisters of the poor, especially the NFC. To he$$ with parity! We are part of an elite set of teams, now, as in the past. We are the AFC elite.

As in any competition, when a team beats me, I want them to go all the way. I want to have been beaten by the best. Having reached this point of today, I believe that the best four teams in football this year were the final four AFC's team, all playing to see who was best in the AFC playoffs. I expect that any of us SHOULD have been able to destroy Chicago. To put it another way, if Chicago loses, it is as I have said. If Chicago wins, then maybe the AFC wasn't really that good, and maybe the patriots weren't either.

I certainly understand the Boston fan attitude. They have carefully honed this attitude since 1918 and before. But it is not mine. I am a New England Patriot fan, not a Boston fan. I want to see the AFC East be the best division. I want the AFC to be the best. And most of all, I want to the patriots win.

So, I will root for the best this day. I will root for the AFC. I will happily root for Manning and Indy. And then tommorow, I am again try to focus on what it will take to be the best in the 2007-2008 season, what it will take to better than Indy, and SD and Baltimore, and better than the rest.

Most of the rest of you will view Indy with hate, feel robbed by the refs, and know in your hearts that you deseve to win the SB every year. No one else is ever deserving. Hats off to the die-hard Red Sox fans! Different strokes for different folks.

i hate your level-headedness ! but, seriously, the crack about 1918 was unnecessary. who do you think charger fan was rooting for. well, it wasn't the pats. we beat them, they root against us. as far as indy goes, it's human nature to root against your rival. and i see indy as our only true rival right now.

I understand your point of view, mine is different. I see the Colts as our ongoing nemesis and a future obstacle to more Super Bowl appearances by the Patriots. Championships empower a team; success breeds more success and I don't want to see this bitter rival be successful.

Beyond that, I don't want Indianapolis to win a title on principle:

These are not really the Colts. The Colts belonged to Baltimore and ceased to exist when their sleazy owner hijacked them in the middle of the night and moved 1,000 miles away. They should've been renamed when they were moved.

GM Bill Polian is a mean-spirited lunatic. He has the audacity to meddle with the game itself and makes a total ass of himself in his maniacal pursuit of victory. If there is a way to change/bend the rules or outright cheat, he'll consider it.

The team's radio play-by-play announcer sounds like Donald Duck on helium.

The Colts play indoors in a domed stadium and have adopted a wimpy flag-football style that brings us to ...

Peyton Manning (a/k/a "Commercial Man"). Throws others under the bus when things go wrong. A great player who is difficult to like.

The team's second-rate mentality is responsible for hoisting banners in the RCA Dome touting division titles and appearances in the conference championship game. Total bush league.

Adam Vinatieri. Phony player-without-a-soul with dollar signs where his heart should be.

Whining and sulking. From Manning to Polian to the fans themselves, this franchise has turned sour grapes whining into an art-form, both on and off the field.

I partially agree with you, Tune, but Indy was playing with more hunger than we were this year. I'd like them to get their rings , esp. with many of their players FA's. If they have their ring they'll be more likely to go for the big payday. Take away the motivation and the FAs they'll lose due to their CAP situation and they'll be diminished next year.

I do not want the Colts to win under ANY circusmstances. They shouldn't be there to begin with, but that is besides the point. Their GM has got to be the most arrogant piece of garbage outside of Al Davis. Not only that, but when his teams LOSE to better teams, he goes whining to the league. Its disgusting and one can only hope that Gooddall will tell him to stow it.

The Colts aren't quite everything that is wrong with the NFL, but they are damn near close.

However-the more I think about it-The Bears D is better, their STs are outstanding, their WRs are very underrated, their OL are beasts, T. Jones/Benson is a monster duo, and most importantly, Rex has finally bought into Bears football.

I was feeling what you said until yesterday, and throw in also the let them win one and they'll let down like most super bowl winners and we'll take over again theory. But I changed (men can be fickle also) thinking it's so very hard to get to the super bowl, ask Dan Marino, that maybe the Colts won't get back there any time soon and maybe Manning becomes Marino-2, best ever without a ring. I think it's hoping against hope, but you never know. Also, if you consider the any given Sunday precept, just because the Bears up and knock off the Colts, it doesn't diminish the Patriots or the AFC much, if at all. So, here's a hearty Go Bears.
I don't know. Like I heard Ty Warren say in an interview last week, it hurts until the first snap of the next season.

I suspect that part of the hate for the colts and Manning is due to the fact that Manning's offense is thing of beauty and a joy forever. The game plans are great. The players are on the same page. And Manning is allowed to call his own game, and call it from the no-huddle. It is a great thing to watch. The top three defenses in the league are falling to them, one at a time.

I have a sneaky suspicion that you would like to see what would happen if the pats ran such an offense, and if our coach worked with our OC to make it happen, or brought in a new OC.

After all, the problem is not that Josh can't write game plans, is it? Isn't the problem is that he can't call plays and can't adjust after halftime.

What do YOU THINK would happen if Brady would be allowed to run an no-huddle offense? Me, I think we'd be in the SB today. And of course, we'd be looking for better receivers in the draft and free agency, the most needed team upgrade.

And, just BTW, I didn't like the colts when they were in Baltimore. Weren't most of us over 50 Giants fans or perhaps Cleveland fans back then? We were all ecstatic when the AFL beat the dolts of old.

As good as the Bears defense may be, Manning, from the no huddle, and OC Tom Moore, with his offensive schemes, will destroy the Bears secondary, in my opinion.
