A player with some potential in the free agency market is Charlie Anderson of the Houston Texans. He is a 6'4" 246 lb. linebacker who plays outside. He is a converted a college defensive end who has the side/speed combo to play outside in the Pats 3-4.

He is a restricted free agent, but if Houston tenders him at the lowest level, he'd only cost a 6th round pick to sign. The Pats need to influx some young linebackers with talent and Anderson could be a guy ready to move into more regular playing time. He is a good special teams player too.

Worth a look, though I keep looking for players with linebacker (ILB preferred) somewhere in their background.

He sounds interesting although hard to tell if he brings anything more to the table than TBC. At least they know what TBC can do and he knows the system.

Another Houston player to keep our eye on is Antwan Peek, he is a UFA.

Personally I dismiss all RFAs from my list of potential players, it seems likes a very low percentage ever change teams. Maybe with the new CBA this will be different but it seems to be less than 1 in 10 that change teams.

Peek would be a nice fit, though he had a terrible year. Might make him more affordable. On the inside, E.J. Henderson may make a nice guy to go after and for a low cost flyer, perhaps Ryan Fowler from Dallas.

Scratch Henderson off the list, he got a crazy contract from the Vikings... if this is a sign of how money will be spent this off-season it is a little scary. Henderson is a pretty good player, not great and doesn't have pro bowl potential and he got $25 Million over 5 years with $10 Million guaranteed

His teammate Napolean Harris has been an under achiever but has all the measurables 6'3, 255, runs a 4.6. It is confusing as hell to determine if he is a FA or not, he may be a player worth watching. It would be really surpising for the Pats not to bring in an experienced ILB. This appears to be the weakest position on the team with CB close behind (if Samuel leaves).

Didn't know about Hendeson's contract, sorry. According to the NFLPA, Harris is under contract thru 2008.
