Hopefully it attracts more free agents etc :)

One of the many fine reasons I dreamt of Pats-as-winning-program years ago.... Fun to see the dream made real :)

Randy knows exactly how these guys feel. Seem like he'd jump at the opportunity to come back.

I thought jests had the best locker room and every FA wanted to play there?

Stallworth killed somebody while Driving intoxicated a few years ago
True. but, he didn't leave the scene and took responsibility for his actions?

I can't imagine that's an easy thing for people to live with.

Everyone knows you shouldn't drink and drive. Its dangerous to yourself and the general public.

He ended someones life because he was too stupid to call a cab. He'd rather drive around intoxicated in an overpriced luxury car while drunk....

Yeah. GREAT PERSON!!!!!

Don't get me wrong. I don't care what players do off the field. But don't come here saying Stallworth is a great person. He could very well be in jail right now.

.

You know it was the morning after right.

like 7:15 am in the morning. He'd had a few too many in his system.

Not exactly getting into a car directly from a club.

Thats my understanding of the case anyway.

Not defending Stallworth, but he already went to jail for that offense. Also, if you research that incident you'll find that it was a complex one in many ways. Finally, despite that horrific case of poor behavior, Stallworth is widely-regarded as a good guy, well-educated and multi-lingual. Understand, I'm not attempting to absolve him, but, rather, just trying to present a clearer picture.

If memory serves it wasn't quite that cut and dry. Think it was early morning and he didn't quite have everything out of his system. Somebody stepped into a usually busy road nowhere near a crosswalk and stallworth hit them. Doesn't make it defensible, however he did stay at the scene and took responsibility for his actions. He has to live with that every day. I don't think that lone incident is enough to label him a terrible human being...

The only reason players leave is because of money.

Furthermore, while he committed a crime while driving intoxicated, it is not like he veered off the road into pedestrian traffic. He hit a guy how was trying to cross the highway and supposedly, visibility was poor at that time of morning. Regardless, he payed his debt and should have to be put on trial every time his name comes up.

For the most part. Not everyone fits, and the majority that don't are cut or traded rather than leave. But some do. Kellen Winslow reportedly asked to be cut because he wanted more playing time.

You have to be willing to fit the system to play here. Personal stats and playing time aren't important. It's all about the team. Big egos aren't coddled. Shooting your mouth off in the media isn't encouraged. But for players that want to be part of a winning experience and a close knit team, there's nothing quite like it.

I thought it was because of their awesome selection of "gdamn snacks"? :rocker:

You've never driven after having a beer or a glass of wine, say after a wedding? Ever? If so, you are a hypocrite.

Valid point regarding Stallworth NOT being a "Great" person....Anyone without money, who couldn't hire a high paid lawyer, would still be doing time for manslaughter. He made a mistake...a terrible mistake and he's paying for it emotionally for the rest of his life...still doesn't bring the victim back folks....The fact that he doesn't have a rap sheet a mile long and he's never been a problem child in his past is probably the only reason that it's not being thrown in his face every day.

You should really familiarize yourself with the details of the story.

Yes indeed.

If you need to be hugged and told you're wonderful go and play for **** Vermeil or Pete Carroll. BB isn't going to come and tuck you up in bed and read you a story.

In fact, you hear some stories that the Patriots can be pretty brutal (the way they dealt with Ted Johnson's concussions) but this is a football team. And there are a lot of upsides. First, it's a meritocracy -- they'll cut high draft picks and expensive free agents if they don't do what's wanted and free agents can make the team. Second, that "no media" thing is a huge relief -- you'll never hear a coach criticize a player in public and players who start media storms they can't control can just put their heads down and get on with business without the media pressure. When he did that, Randy Moss was fine.
