Yep, I have two posters on my ignore list and it works for me. No one gets harmed by it as they are free to keep posting. I also keep the names to myself.

And, with that, I have completed my part of this thread, although I did not vote. Perhaps you might want to do the same.

And, the solution is very simple. Those people that like to initiate threads that the author of this thread , need to stop. And those same people are the ones who enter into other threads and do the same thing, taking those threads way off topic and start the entire pissing contests.

Here was a thread created to defend you without naming you, and attempting to ridicule those who attack you, and instead of just keeping your mouth shut, you had to come in and start in on the "woe is me, it's everyone else's fault" garbage again.

You made a promise and broke it, by your own admission. I hadn't been following this site since the Colts loss and, so, I didn't know you had done that when I responded to the moderator's query about locking threads. I had been one of the people congratulating you on how you were behaving post-promise before that Colts game. Now that I know you have broken your deal, I'm of the opinion that you should be banned immediately. However, I'd said nothing of the kind in my post here, opting only to point out that you undercut the very people who support you.

You're a pathetic human being who couldn't even keep a simple promise to be civil for more than a couple of weeks. Now, go email someone else with that false crap you sent me about your health problems and your going to be homeless in 3 days. Some people here believe that those who try to self police the forum or believe some level of forum etiquette is desirable should be painted as the thin skinned whiners - so they start a pole to insure everyone gets their self important read on who the real fools are.

This was once the best Patriots site on the net - possibly the best football fan site on the net. Now it's become a place for posters to argue about each other and the way the site is managed. And many of the best and brightest who attracted many of us to this site post more amd more infrequently because dealing with the crap has nearly ruined the experience. Even they get sucked in, as in the final anaysis everyone here does, because that's human nature.

It's all well and good to suggest ignoring those who live to provoke, but they don't just start threads, they hijack existing threads and destroy them in a deliberate attempt to gain attention. And when they get a dose of their own medicine in retaliation - which is what is descends to when management doesn't step in and maintain some semblance of decorum, then these self absorbed provocateurs raise the cry that they are being persecuted and harassed and provoked.

A few months ago I initiated what I hoped could be a thoughtful discussion of the offense and I suggested that disappointed bandwagon fans who wanted to vent or NEM if he just wanted to continue trashing the OC not post in that thread. LOL Every unhappy camper on the roster showed up and NEM initiated an attack on me which included suddenly labeling me as a member of the misguided anti-NEM cult - even accused me of secretly PM'ing other members I have never had any contact with outside of this board (several of whom I often disagree with without it impacing our lives), as well as proclaiming me a member of a filthy (his assessment) board where he had recently been unfairly banned and one on which I have never posted. And of course, he threatened that he wasn't going to stand for it and my days here were numbered.

Believe me, if the ignore option worked we'd all use it. It doesn't. People wouldn't be lining up to add their two cents to an argument that long predates many of their memberships if it did - just human nature. You can't change it, but IAN can control it on his board if he chooses to.

BTW I don't have PM'ing enabled on my account for a reason. The only person who can contact me about anything that transpires here is Ian, and I did that because of some of the nutjobs that inhabit the internet.

I agree completely, posters like BOR, PatsNutMe, and a few others, who initiate posts, or actually post something that suggest bannng another poster, are the root cause of all the long, and meanngless threads in this forum.

Thanks for pointing it out. And, most other posters agree.

The ones who initiate p[osts like that, and also enter into afootball thread with something personal, instead of footbal...THEY are the ones who have promulgated all of the threads that end up in pissing wars.

And, even with that, I for one, would never initiate a post suggesting they be banned. I just wont waste my time responding to them, unless, of course, they are a direct attack on me.... and even then, from now on, I willproibably let most of them, too, slide by.

Those are the people everyone on this forum shoudl be upset with, because it is those people who have brought all of the trouble to this forum.

And, as we have seen lately, more and more people now are becoming aware of it.

I hadn't posted here since the Colts game until I saw the moderator thread. You, on the other hand, took the time out of your life to create a thread and post a poll about people posting a poll about a non-football issue on a football thread. Insulting others about having no life after something like that is more than just a little bit pathetic. And, as I noted, post #10 shows exactly why you're part of the problem and not part of the solution. This follow up just reinforces that. In an effort to stop the hostility and arguing through the tactic of ridiculing those you disagree with, you begin getting hostile and argumentative and expose yourself as a hypocrite.
