Manning will be named MVP in the biggest travesty in award history

If Patriots beats the 49ers and Tom finishes the season with only 4 picks their shouldn't be a debate

The forehead has done it before(09) and i pissed myself off before reading what some ******s had to say on the issue.

"It's a good story!"

Mike Sando's MVP Watch - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

#1 Peyton feeds on the ****ty AFC West and gets raped by every top team.

#2 Tom Brady - More TDs,far fewer turnovers, destroys 11-1 HOU. Brady just entered the MVP discussion!

Mike Sando is dumb as a bag of bricks. He uses ESPN's TQBR as a measure for which QB has been better, the hallmark of a complete idiot. Manning throws 1 TD and 1 INT against the Raiders, one of, if not THE, worst defenses in the league, and his QBR for the game is 93.1. Brady throws for 4 TDs against a top 3 defense and his QBR is 95.6. This is pathetic, really.

The Media loves Manning, both of them in fact. In the Media's eyes, they can do no wrong and are always the best.

I dont understand why this bothers people......the award is relatively insignificant.

The league office is considering just awarding Manning the MVP every year, ahead of time, to save the fuss.

How is Adrian Peterson not being considered here?

I'd rather AP got it than Manning.

Whatever. The voting for this is nothing more than a pretty princess popularity contest for the media to swoon over. They undermine the award by doing this which is why no one cares who wins it anymore.

It would be nice if Brady wins it, but Peyton winning is hardly a travesty.

True. AP is averaging as many yards per carry as his quarterback is averaging throwing the ball

He has every bit the injury comeback story line that Manning has. But unlike him he has truly been head and shoulders the best at his position.

What should be the top 4, as of now:

Brady
Peterson
Watt
Rodgers

Frankly, I think there are strong arguments for putting Frank Gore and/or Matt Ryan ahead of Manning.

Brady has 32 total touchdowns and 4 turnovers. Manning has 30 total touchdowns and 12 turnovers.

The Patriots have rushed for 10 TDs, the Broncos just 5.

The Patriots have 20 rushing TDs. Ridley alone has 10.

And, BTW, the Donkeys have 7. :p

I usually don't pay attention to this because Manning seems to be the anointed one every year but Troy Brown made an interesting comment and it got me thinking.

So everyone marvels at Manning calling the offense at the line and the command he has but Troy made the point that he thinks no one does more than Brady because Brady is asked to run a different offense from week to week and year to year. One week it might be a spread offense with a certain receiver group. The next week it might be a bunched offense, a run and shoot offense, etc. In other words, Brady not only has to be on top of the offense, recognize the defense, and control protection, but he has to do this for completely different offenses, groups, and concepts from week to week.

With Brady, it's not enough to master "the offense". Every offense has basic concepts that are used as the basis to exploit certain defenses. Brady is asked to constantly play different concepts, packages, and blocking schemes because the Patriots change from week to week. His backs change. His receivers change, and the matchups and ways to exploit them change.

I really think Troy hit on something that I hadn't considered before. It's the way that Brady can play a variety of offensive styles at such a high level and with so few mistakes while everyone fawns over Manning because he makes the same audibles at the line he's made for 15 years and plays the same offense regardless of the opponent. Don't get me wrong, the fact that Manning executes it so well makes him special but I now reject the notion that Manning does "more". I think that's crap.

there's only one trophy I am interested in.

vince-lombardi-trophy1.jpg

is greater than
NFL_MVP_trophy.jpg

but

vince-lombardi-trophy1.jpg

plus

NFL_MVP_trophy.jpg

is at least a tiny little bit better than just

vince-lombardi-trophy1.jpg
alone,

otherwise the MVP would have negative value.

I know, somebody said there would be no math....

;)

LOL. I guess you're entitled to your opinion.

This.

Who has Manning beaten or played well against to deserve the MVP?

Again, three games against 3 decent teams: Falcons, Patriots, Texans. Outscored 89-31 in the first three quarters of those games. Against elite competition, he has not shown up.

He's beaten no one. He's jacked up his stats by passing a lot at the goal-line. He's scored many meaningless touchdowns while throwing meaningful interceptions.

He does not belong in the MVP conversation unless they get a top 2 seed. Hopefully Baltimore isn't in such a state of disarray that they can't slow him down this weekend.

If he plays poorly against Baltimore, and if Denver loses, they will have lost to every other division winner in the AFC and the division winner in the NFC that they played, then any media member who votes for this guy is a waste of life.

I hope Peyton wins the award. I truly believe that Brady is on fire emotionally on the field because he wants that MVP award. He'd never say it in the media but he wants it. Peyton winning the MVP will only turn Brady into a man posessed in the playoffs ala 2004 in the "cut that meat game". call me stupid or superstitious but I feel that if Peyton wins the MVP, we win the superbowl.

As i said before , its hard to beat manning in the media. He and his family are very media savvy and control the media how they want. We dont see BB and brady and his day in interviews left and right. Even if brady has better #s, manning went to a new team and installed a new offense with new players, that is the excuse u will get. Of course Brady had played with 5-6 different offensive schemes yr after yr and is the only player left from the SB winning team on offense but who cares to point those things out ?

Because, whether it's fair or not, achievements of this sort are looked at when people talk about the best.

This is unfortunately true. Like Favre, the media cant find enough ways to award mnning. They wanted to declare him the greatest ever BEFORE the saints SB.
