Video piece from Jim Trotter at SI. After he picked Houston yesterday. Guess he's done some second guessing and soul searching. Now questioning why both fans and media seem so eager to take Brady for granted every season. Is it Belichick? The "system" label, or what I truly believe - the #199 drafted player scouts claimed to be a backup, perceived talent vs. actual accomplishment. Combine that with a local east coast media too smaht to be tooting Brady's horn when so many other quality candidates exist outside their own home territory. Wouldn't want to look like homers, god forbid.

I think there is a trend building to rethink the frontrunner for MVP. Fans and media hereabouts should get on the bandwagon.

If we win out, he better win the MVP. We've scored about 100 more points than Denver. We've had a lot of returns. They've had a few too. It's about leading your team into the endzone. We've got a strong running game this year. He's having a better year than Peyton Manning..period. Passing stats are eerily identical. The difference is how Tommy directs our offense. Clearly superior.

Nice piece.

"Numbing" is a good word. Brady is so smooth and so efficient and effective in running the offense that he makes it look almost too easy. Even when under pressure yesterday he never got flustered. He was always in control. He's just unbelievable. That may be his problem - he's too good.

it's great to hear this from people other than patriots fans. we all have seen how great brady has been this season yet he has to prove himself against the 2 best teams in the nfl to get recognition despite the fact his numbers are overall better than mannings. i don't know about you guys but i'm still hearing from a lot of people that peyton and AP are the top 2 mvp candidates because of their "stories", which personally i don't think is fair and it shouldn't factor into it. right now it should be brady's to lose but if at the end of the year bradys overall numbers and standing is better than manning and he doesn't win it would be a travesty. i wouldn't mind AP winning it because he is clearly very valuable to his team and has been nothing short of amazing.

i also really liked rick reilly saying on the air last night after the game how manning is the emotional pick for mvp and joked that people are confusing mvp with comeback player of the year.

before anyone says it: yes i know we don't care about mvp's we'd rather the lombardi BUT if brady deserves it then why can't he get the mvp as well as try for the lombardi and please don't say "who cares what the media says" stuff. it's something discuss and the media is very impressionable. usually we could say brady's numbers will do the talking but even when brady has the numbers he's not getting the love.

it's going to be so sad when he leaves...this gut is amazing. Truly love watching him every sunday and was lucky enough to be born to see all that he has done so i can tell my kids what he did here

Brady doesn't get the respect he deserves, and most of that is due to hatred and jealousy. What can one do?

Who care...look at the stats..all those who hate are just jealous they can't have a hall of famer like him...bring on the hate

Great video. Man we are so lucky to be Patriots fans right now.

yes, i dont understand the hate . . . or well the hate for TB and love for Manning, both are successful as a QB why do they hate TB and not PM . . . perhaps is has mostly due to the playoff success differential . . . but one would think that people would be tired of seeing Manning endorsing everything under the sun and let someone else get an endorsement or two . . .

you would think people would rather cheer on the guy who came from nowhere and worked hard to get to where he is rather than the guy with the big last name number 1 pick who had it handed to him (obviously he still proved himself and is one of the greatest). i guess it's just the curse of brady living the american dream. :D

Definitely seems like the media are mixing comeback player of the year with MVP and they don't seem to care if they are right or wrong.

I got chills when he got up from the first down run. not for the fact he ran but when he got up he was pumped and that made the crowd go nuts!

Never understood how P Manning only needed to win that 2nd SB to be considered the hands down GOAT and TB somehow needs 4 and some say 5 rings.

The forehead ball washing this season has reached new heights for sure. Peyton was talking to a ref and one of the commentators said "You don't want Peyton Manning mad at you" huh??? I think it's the other way around buddy, you don't want to piss a ref off. Maybe I misunderstood him, hope so, Geezus. One of Dierdorks dreams he said was to sit down and listen to Peyton talk football, for hours on end, just sit and listen, creepy jeepy. Sounded like he was creaming him self. I actually never want to here them talk about TB in these bizarre ways, lol, it makes my skin crawl.

Are we talking about Wilfork or Brady here? :p

That video was rubbish. "Brady doesn't get the respect he deserves but oh by the way, he's won two MVP's". Just about every player in the history of the NFL would give almost anything to win just one MVP. I also don't think there's a single football fan or journalist in the world with even a modicum of intelligence (yes that rules out Jets fans) who doesn't think Brady is one of the greatest QB's of all time.

He gets plenty of respect. End of.

His point is that while 2 is obviously still more than most Brady deserves to have more because he's been great for so long. Just bc ppl think Brady is a GOAT it doesn't mean he gets the respect he deserves. He's running the offense that's averaging the 2nd most points all time without having all of his weapons for many games yet more than majority don't consider him top 2 in who should win MVP. That is disrespect. End of.

We really are. Growing up as a kid, always wondered what it was like having a superstar like Staubach or Bradshaw. Now we do. But he is ever greater. People are amazed that in his 10 full seasons as a pro, he has been in the Super Bowl in half of those years. Been in 6 AFC championship games. Made the playoffs in all but one year?

Honestly, when we look back at him 10-20 years from now, people won't believe it. They just won't.

Pretty good commentary. I think the "doesn't get enough respect" thing is slightly overstated in the long-term — he's always been in the GOAT conversation — but spot on for this year.

One big factor is that the Pats have been on much fewer national games this year (expect that to change next year). Having a big game against a top team on MNF helps, and he has another opportunity to grab the spotlight Sunday night.

I believe people prefer Manning over Brady due to secondary reasons (as opposed to directly perfering one over the other). I believe the main reason Brady doesn't get the respect he deserves is the fact he plays for New England and under BB's directions. BB and Patriots are far from being America's favorite teams for many different reasons, and I believe Brady ends up being the scapegoat here.

I'm pretty sure had Brady played for another franchise, like the Giants, Steelers, Green Bay, etc. he would get A LOT more respect.

But alas, who gives a rat's ***.... let the haters choke on their hats while Brady goes for another ring... or two... or three.... :rocker:
